Guys, there is no such thing as duplicate content. What Google means by this is as follows: If i have the same content as in another site, that doesn't mean nothing for Google. Imagine that MSN site and Yahoo site for example have the same content, eg. news. Is any of this one penalised by Google? NO.

What dupe content is, as Google see it, if i have a site with multiple pages with the same content. In this case, Google will list in its SE only one page of my site, the rest of the pages in my site with the same content won't get listed.

That's IT. Another Google MYTH BUSTED.

yeah, like DrunkenDuck said, the duplicate content penalty only applies if you have duplicate content within your own site (as in, the same content is on your site more than once).

Only partly true trhodes I'm afraid - the point is that if you have 2 sites with dupe content then the site with higher authority ie backlinks etc will be given a higher ranking by big G. In small niches maybe not a problem but in bigger ones you will struggle to get anywhere near the front pages - fresh content is always better.

They do , and they really told me about it as well , but it doesnt matter once you reach there.

My suggestion to everyone is , that if you want to rank 1 through your blogger , blogs ,

start implementing the link wheel tactics .

So if theres no dupe content that means i can just go find a successful blog and just copy/ paste each post as they appear onto my blog, copy the backlinks to a similar level and quality and sit back and watch the money flow in, just copy/pasting each day?

Now i'm no expert but if i were mr google, dedicated to giving my customers the best experience then i think i would somehow stop people doing this. just doesnt make sense to me. there has to be some penalty otherwise all you would see on the web would be loads of copied stuff.

Yes, what that guy said...is it true that aside from copyright infringement google doesn't care if you copy other blogs content with a changed title?

I've got sites that outrank EZA articles "word for word" based on the keywords of the article/page! Go figure! :)

Duplicate content penalties are very real. My blog used to get 30,000 uniques a day and was making me $2000/month. I managed this by finding hot topics on google trends, translating articles on them through 4 languages and then back to english and then posting them. I had a natural backlink profile, little or no link spam.

In March, I was booted from page 1/2 to page 51/52. PR plummeted from 5 to 1. I know it was because of duplicate content because when I search for my site using the "&filter=0" operator, I rank highly again.

Now, whether the spiders algorithmically incurred the penalty, or whether it was a manual booting, I don't know. But I dont think google has the manpower to go around manually booting pr5s.

I am intrigued by evidence presented here to say that dupe content can rank, but personally - I wouldn't take the risk.

I used the wrong word, I wasn't booted, just knocked down 50 or so places in the SERPs. My pages are still indexed.

This happened because I took content from other sites, ran it through google translate 3 or 4 times, and then put it on my site. This led to a duplicate content penalty.

If you ran it through a google translator three or four times ... that is not the same thing as duplicate content.. its called copyright infringement.....

Look at it this way ...... copy a honda car and just rename to ponda ... wht would it seem like to consumers..

but copy an honda car.... take it to... mars and call it honda...... Now what would it look like to consumers....

Modifying content is a greater crime than duplicating content...
Modified content is not the real thing.... it crap.
Rather copy the content... then concentrate on ranking higher that the page you copied the content from....

Like the man said... A link is a link no matter where it HAiLs from...

ConCenTratE on building more links>>>>. and Google will ignore your duplicate content.

    Think of it this way

If site A is the original text and site B is the fugazy.
But site A has 300 links and site B has 309.
Then site B must be more useful to the "CONSUMER" than site A

To beat Google.com always think fo the CONSUMER....

Google is dead if it cant satisfy or desire .....

CONSUMER and not duplicate or Seo is king...

Internet Surfers pay the BIlls .. not you and me...

    Innocent internet surfers.... the CONSUMER....:flame:
