How do you guys avoid having duplicate content for products that don' have much of a description?

Say your site features 5 products, and each product has its own page. And the product description was gotten from amazon?

Is the only way around this to add additional "wording" to the descriptions?

The best thing you can do is add more content to the page. Beef it up as much as you can. Whenever possible I go for as long a product description as I can. If you can not come up with any additional info try rewording what you have (or both)

For product pages, you need not take care of duplicate content issue (if there is such an issue).

Agreed. Dupe content in this realm is a non issue. However manually spinning it just might add some juice.

You'll get a little extra SEO if you re-arrange the order the info is presented:

EXAMPLE: product description, model, serial number, version of the product, photo of product, etc.

I also always advise to add a UNIQUE blurb either about the product itself OR just an industry related keyword rich blurb of 100-200 words per listed product. This will help you a lot if the niche you are in is competitive.

Just my 2 cents. Best of luck!
