    Can you recommend me any tool for checking if my content is duplicate ?

    Usually I use copy scape the free version but it needs your article to be posted online in order to check it. I want a web based tool just to paste my content and to do quick check.

    Duplicate content checker is a useful technique to find out duplicate contents. Lots of tools and tech unique SEO specialist uses on internet. Some famous names are: Copyscape, Virante Duplicate Content, Similar Page Checker and Plagium. There best and reliable sources to trace out duplicate contents.

    There are only few free tools available that can be of much help identifying your site duplicate content:

    1. Duplicate Content Tool estimates the following:

    www and non-www header response;
    Google cache check;
    Similarity check;
    Default page check;
    404 header response;
    PageRank dispersion check (i.e. if www and non-www versions have different PR)

    2. Xenu Scan all your site links and returns a table of all available URLs - all you have to do is to sort the list by title and find pages with identical titles.

    3. Google Webmaster Tools Reporting your site duplicate titles and meta descriptions.

    I have been using copyscape premium and it works pretty good for me.
    But if you are looking for a free option then you can have a look at duplichecker.com since it works good as well.

    Truth is, majority of all those plagiarism tool are not 100% reliable. Even the self acclaimed copyscape is not a surefire. It work most for me when I copy and paste a paragraph of my article in Google and check for it manually.

    They do seem to be a bit hit and miss to me, I have seen Copyscape flag up sites that were in no way duplicate content and then at the same time I have seen it wave through stuff I knew to be plagiarised - and that's the market leader we're talking about. I do like the idea of copying and pasting a paragraph into Google; if it doesn't set alarm bells ringing there then it shouldn't trip you up SEO-wise.

    Have been looking for this too. What I do currently is make a copy of my current site with nofollow tag sitewide, so that my test site doesn't get indexed. I post the content in the test site and check it before publishing it in the real site.

    A tool of some sort will help many :)
