Few giant news site in my country often copy paste article from each other.. Copy and paste 100% without adding any new words / value, so authority > duplicate contents?

Google calls it as Content Aggregation and yeah, it works.

Press Release sites have a different indexing algorithm altogether. Afterall, a Press Release is meant to be syndicated across thousands of sites and platforms, albeit with a link. As long as the content is credited to the creator, it'll work. But won't work on a blog. If you plan to do it on a blog, use RSS. That won't penalize your site. Cheers :)

    This is not entirely correct.

Press release sites recently got devalued to the point that most are considered a spam source. Links from them will not help rank.

Any quality site can have duplicate content and rank without difficulty. The "duplicate content" penalty everyone fears does not exist. If it did, there would be only one copy of everything on the Internet. The real threat of duplicate content is when the same content appears on the same site in more than one place, like /tags/author/categories in WordPress.

When people get hit with a "duplicate content penalty" for having a lot of duplicate content, it is really a low quality site penalty. If all your site has on it is duplicate content, it is a low quality site.

A high quality site with some duplicate content on it will have no problem.

If you still do not believe me, search for this:

WOW. I saw 9 exact matches on the SERP. Are those sites from one owner?

If you will stick with the copy paste practice so it might possible you would not appear in google any more just after few months or week

Nope, it's the default text in a popular dental practice template, and if you searched with the quotes, they are all exact match.

Ahh, but duplicate content is a different animal. Quoting Google:

Google tries to diversify his search results. Duplicate content is not penalized, its simply omitted. E.q. its a different type of filter. The same content, that was omitted, may appear in the SERP for different query because its offpage relevancy is higher.

Duplicate content is not a good idea if you depend upon search engines for traffic.

Why even take the risk? It's better to have fresh and engaging content as opposed to re-using the same junk over and over.

Then again I'm not an SEO expert by any means ;)

If you want to compete on the internet, attract visitors and you can only do that by offering them engaging and appealing content.

    Common knowledge for SEO's really.
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en

    and
    https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/O178PwARnZw

NOTE that he said "press release web sites", not "press releases".

    and
    http://searchengineland.com/google-panda-4-0-go-press-release-sites-192789

    and

    http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/press-release-rankings-slammed-by-panda
NOTE this part "Google dropped the rankings on the millions of individual press release pages." Dropping their rankings means they no longer pass juice like they did before.

And you can google "panda and press release sites" for more.

    So yeah, its official.

Techxan thanks , I will look at it now. I am not too much in the SEO btw, just doing occasionally press releases, web 2.0's and gsa links, and press releases are doing fine job for me, using my press releases on best sites like buffer pages.

Real press releases end up on quality sites, like news, industry, and current event sites. These links are solid gold.

You can't buy them. Those links are not sold, they are earned.

I would rather use Word Ai. Takes a couple of minutes and there you have your Unique/Quality 1000 word article...

Does duplicate content matter for PPC Campaigns?
