Dupe Content Myth

This is what I did so I think it looks like a myth to me...

1) Scraped article from ezine
2) posted to 12 blogs web2.0 - changing only title a little on each
3) blasted with links

Fast forward 1 month

Position 1,2,3,4,5 & 9 all the above - exact same article - apart from title

If google dont like this type thing you would think only one if any would rank..

I have a LOT of autoblogs and the traffic I see from them is huge, my average is 2k uv's per blog per day. That more to do with how I build them not just because they are autoblogs so yeah I'd say the dupe content penalty is bullshit!

But it's difficult to get dupe content indexed. It's the biggest problem, isn't it?

oke the dupe content might be bullshit... but will it's ranking be equal than a unique article. Same power?

Thanks, I'm glad someone else is saying it on here.

Wrote something similar in another thread earlier:

TBH I have been using the exact same content from my site and posting it on web 2.0s with a link to my site to the exact same article. I haven't seen any 'slapping' as of yet.

Someone told me that duplicate content issues are mostly false. Now maybe it's a lil different for web 2.0's since they specifically ask for unique content but like I say no penalties yet. I'm gonna keep doing it this way until I see a reason to do otherwise.

I might even try using the same article all the way down the line to test this hypothesis- money site <- web 2.0 <- article directories.

I index my pages after a few hours, 2 days max on a new blog.

I out rank the original articles a lot of the time because I do a little thing called link building, it works wonders

Have a same thought, as the #1 place on my keywords is a site with a 100% duplicate content, and I know exactly where the articles comes from.

He even outranked subdomain.yahoo.com at #2 place and he's been there for almost a year now

Impressive.

The only thing about dupe content is yes you absolutely can get away with it for a while...but only a while. Eventually the day comes and you turn on your computer, find your site/pages been de-indexed and then you're like WTF??

Very interesting. I wonder if this is could be a new thing or if dupe content has just been overblown from the beginning. There's way more content being duplicated across websites, profiles and pages thanks to social media, making it hard to trace content back to its "original" source, which can legitimately come from more than one source anyway.

I'm starting to feel that Google's algorithms are less about global penalties and have more niche specific standards. For example a promo article about a trending dieting fad will be more likely to be flagged right off-the-bat than an opinion piece/advertorial about classic art or something that people aren't really talking about and spamming a lot.

Thoughts?

Do you have any empirical validation of this or you just 'think' that's how it would go

Just my opinion. Especially considering that google are rolling out big updates trying to crack down on this sort of thing every 6 months/12 months etc i can't see dupe content being anything other than a short term strategy.
Just my opinion though.

I've been doing similar for years, only difference is instead of grabbing whole articles I grab numerous small chunks of content from articles/blogs/news/video sites all related to my one keyword topic and make a mashup page with it.

I've never had a problem, still rank well (and fast) with my pages, and only do minimal linkbuilding for them.

The biggest problem I see is these pages, whether they're mashups or straight-up dup content, can't/shouldn't have adsense on them because that's where you'll get burned eventually.

But, using them strictly for pulling traffic to your site(s) or to promote affiliate products or list building works wonders.

Just my $0.02 on it

*hypothecially..what if G only did dupe content checks on sites with adsense...

Makes alot of sense...and they would save alot of resources if they only checked adsense sites..

I don't see why it's against the rules though if it's your own content.

Think of how big media companies do 'press releases' or whatever- they submit the same garbage spiel all over the place- standard practice. Antoehr example would be billboards

they don't and aren;t expected to have to create 'unique content' for each billboard (maybe i'm stretching the analogy a bit but w/e

)- this is standard advertising.

So I don't see why it is anything different if you are submitting your same articles from your site to other places- I mean I don't see why it would be seen as naughty since the 'whitehat' rationale is you are just submitting to a wider audience.
