Dunno, ill ask.

I do need to get involved more, if I want to make some money, and there is awesome ideas. Imma post this here as I think I might get more respones, though I do apologize if the wrong area.

I been lurking here for years before I joined, and even after I joined. I get some ideas, but then get lost.
I really hate this shit. I want to make a go and in a area that I am still rather knowledgable in.

Websites. Right now, I am learning to use Windows Server 2019, but there is so much I need to learn, and want to use my server for website projects. And ways to show them, and or sell later.

Or to use for affiliate marketing. Then recently I found out about Expired Domains, and that has me peaked. But....again, I am still just a lurker. And having a hard time trying to actually get involved.
Granted, I also want to save money to invest in the tools needed, but for what? Sigh. I scour BHW in this dire times in hopes of just that, something to click with me and I can run with it...

I wonder if I am anywhere on a right path. I am trying to fully self host and test different websites and things out, and interested in that domain thing. And then perhaps even figure out how to fuly manage my server, so I can play with the domains/ideas without a web host.
Anyone have an idea of what I am trying to do? Lol

Ah, this is why I do not try and socialize. Ha, you can close this thread down. I really was just looking for opinions or suggestions, however I should realize with how varied this place is, it is best to formulate what I would like to do and keep it to myself.

Ah you are right.
But I do sometimes come off as confusing sometimes when I have ideas floating and questions. So they all kind of mash together.
Not easy sometimes for me to clarify myself. lol

The problem is, it sounds like you don't know what you want. So trying to "find" that here is going to be an impossible task. Even if you had some kind of direction it might be a little bit easier.

Again no point saving to buy tools for tools sake if you don't know how or why you need them for or more importantly what, other wise its just an added expense and no doubt a costly mistake.

You would be better off trying to figure out what YOU want or want to do, then post that as a question on the forum asking how to do X or better still start searching for similar topics and questions first

First of all, why are you running a server? What is your goal for it?

If you have one and I missed it, sorry. It seems like you are using it to create and showcase websites? Why server?

Secondly, as @t2van has just posted as I was writing, what is your overall goal in IM? Perhaps start there.

I work with computers daily, so having a computer server is helpful epscially for my boss or if someone needs things done. I mainly use Hyper-V.
As for the other part, that is what I want to do. Showcase websites. Locally in person, and via online, and I have a computer server.....and I will use it.

My overall goal, is to learn locally of making really good affiliate websites or otherwise, something (And this is where my issue, or focus is off) with websites to make money.
And I just found out about Expired Domains, and the power of which they can be used of done right, and I was thinking of leering towards the computer niche.
And I am assuming, that with expired domains and affiliate marketing might be a good combination. And will give me a good reason to actually get back into something I like, and thats websites but with a successful purpose of making money with them.

now locally, I would like to learn this all on my machine first, before deplyoying out into the real world anyways. It is for me easier, then dealing with web hosts. Specially when i am trrying to experiment. So I figure I have a good sandbox to use. Maybe this is over kill. Perhaps, but I got time and patience. And Unless I am mistaken, I think I have a good idea. Or at least a start. (Just maybe a bit complex)

It all looks like a mess buddy, your goals seem all over the place. I mean what is the purpose of this? Hobbyist or money making? really not clear.

If it is just a labor of love then sure pick at things willy nilly as you please but in terms of making money this seems like a disaster. You need very lazer focused goals for making money.

Yeah, that is how it seems. I am trying to otherwise narrow it down. I am still doing a lot of research, so right now, nothing is set in stone. Just ideas and all over.
One tutorial did say one of the requirements was a brain....hmmm

You're definitely complicating your life a bit too much.

If you're just trying to do affiliate marketing, there is no need to use your own server unless you are a multi-million dollar business and even then you probably wouldn't.

If you still want something custom just get yourself a dedicated server with no support and tinker around with that. It's a lot better than starting from the ground up, but in your case, you seem to have the essentials to do it, so you probably could.

I'd still recommend against it. If you're just looking to experiment then that shouldn't really be done on a site that you're trying to make money with.

Correct. Perhaps by explaining it this way I did complicate it.
So lets try this:

I have a dedicated server. (at lest pretend)
I like the idea of expired domains, and the idea of affiliate marketing.
Good combination? Or should I explore more into PBN (Which I hear is a little complex) or Authority Websites (Which I think I have an idea of what this is).
though I also know I can domain flip on say fiverr.
