Is Youtube considered as a 'Social' or 'Search' type of traffic in affiliate marketing?

I guess you should add a pole to your thread. I consider youtube both in a way. On google search you don't get peer interaction and most people on social sites don't link to google searches. On youtube, you can obviously search for things, but beyond searching for things you can interact with your peers through commenting. Also people on socials link to the videos. Ultimately IMHO google is a search engine and youtube is a content provider that has a search engine.

I have never heard of people saying YouTube could be considered search traffic. YouTube is a social network for sharing videos. I would always classify it as social traffic.

How can it be search traffic? Can someone explain it to me? You don't click on links from the search results. You click on links from the video page, which is social. Search traffic means you are sending visitors directly from the search results. YouTube is not a search engine. YouTube is a social platform with a search feature for searching their own platform, but all traffic is social network traffic, because it's a social platform. I just don't understand everyone saying both, give an explanation for your thoughts.

So every website that has a search function is considered search traffic? Twitter is search traffic because it has a search engine? Blackhatworld is search traffic? Reddit is search traffic? Does any website in the world exist today without a search engine in it?

It is NOT search engine for sure.
YouTube Is the #2 most popular search engine (#1 is Google)
If the website has a search box it doesn't make it a search engine
Youtube doesn't have crawlers to crawl internet like google, yahoo or bing.
You can only search for the information inside the website (youtube.com)

It's a social networking site, you can't rank external properties on YouTube. You build your YouTube channel, you don't put your food recipe blog on there and try and rank it.
Search engines index all the webs content, that is search.
Building social profiles and only making content in that ecosystem is not a search engine.

It is used AS search engine because of the ridiculous amount of videos it has.
Now, answer me and yourself one question. What is search engine?
