Does forwarding your address take as long as DNS nameservers do? This is my first experience with a real domain name, and I don't have much time till this has to be live. I bought the domain, and I'm losing my chance to make big money every second it's not up.

I am using freehostia.com, and I forwarded my domain name to the home page...how long will this take?

Forwarding usually only takes a few minutes. If you want to use the domain long term, you'll want to correct the name servers.

Thanks for your quick reply...how long does a few minutes mean? I probably forwarded 30 minutes ago, but check it out:

http://www.friday13movie.info - still parked.

Now I'm getting this website unavailable. I've already missed out potentially on $92.

That sucks! It really depends on the host as to how long it takes. The host I'm with usually takes a max of about 5 mins. In the future, if your domain is connected to web hosting, you can just create a php redirect and upload it. That's much quicker.

Actually, the DNS change can take up to 24 (or more) hours to propagate across the internet.
