A seller that I know who is selling rather good links is using gmail to contact me.

Even when I gave them a hint that they should either contact me on skype or use another email, they gave me another gmail address.

Should I purchase these links or should I avoid them since Google will probably know I purchased links from this guy by monitoring his gmail?

I don't think they monitor emails for buying a few links.. I might be wrong..

if that is really your concern, ask him to zip it with a password.

you just being paranoid though!

If Google is reading your email to detect link buying, that is a Federal violation of privacy. There is a lot of jail time involved for trying to detect if YOU are trying to buy some links.

Google can easily monitor your email and hand over the info to any government agency that requests it.

In the real world I doubt very much they are monitoring emails unless subpoenaed to, so Im sure you are safe but I still think its a poor marketing fail for any seller to be using gmail/drive/docs

I'm not expert, but "monitoring" your email is a violation of privacy laws. "Handing over" your email is what they would do if they received a subpoena.

I recommend against all things Google when it comes to PBN's: Drive, gMail, Chrome. They're prob. not watching it, but could.

No. If you have a spare week to read their tos you will notice that you accepted they can look at your emails when you ticked the box http://www.dailytech.com/Google+Yes+we+Read+Your+Gmail/article33184.htm

Again tin hat off Its unlikely they are monitoring on an ongoing basis but I hate recieving seo work in a gmail or doc because they can target someones gmail account for an appraisal.
