But I am using virtual machines sometimes, so they count as different devices too if they have dynamic IP addresses? What should I do if my key gets banned because of that?

The number of simultaneous connections from different IPs is limited to 25. Anything that goes over this limit will not connect, but your Key won't be banned. Approximately 30 minutes after you stop working your IP record will be deleted and can be replaced with another one.
