Journey goal: $3000 net profits a month. Afterwards and if i do reach this goal i may or may not continue updating it. I won't just dissapear and if do i'll let you know why(either it was because i abandoned it or because the goal was reached)

Hey. I have been an active member on blackhatworld for maybe a year now, when i say active member i mean i come and read around here about two hours everyday.

But i don't only do that, i've always liked to actually try stuff on my own and stuff i come up with, and i've had success with some of the things i have tried.

Anyways, i've loved dropshipping ever since i first read about it and i've tried doing it different ways without success. Got kinda serious about 2 weeks ago so i purchased a VPS, purchased an aliexpress importer plugin and a couple of .com domains. Why a couple? Well i messed up buying the first one as it was a really bad niche, so i switched.

Anyways.

The plan:
  • Store has to look professional.
  • At least 100+ products must be added.
  • Create social pages for instagram, facebook, google plus, twitter.
  • Buy 1k followers for one of each of these social pages so that they don't look as empty.
  • Upload just one or two pictures manually to each social page, non sponsor related, just niche related so i gain a nice follower base.
  • Try paid traffic from facebook ads through instagram.
  • Buy shoutouts on big pages with good engagement rate.
Done
  • Store built and completed
  • Products added, clean titles, good descriptions, good pictures with no watermarks
  • Instagram page created, didn't buy followers for it though but have gotten 1k in a few shoutouts i bought to my site.
  • Set up an instagram ad, didn't let it go live though as cpc was estimated to be $3.50 for some reason and i was required to use a daily budget of $20 (Maybe later i'll let it go live)
Expenses
  • Good VPS with Cpanel = -$78
  • Plugin = -$65
  • Domains = -$20
  • Instagram shoutout 1 = -$10
  • Instagram shoutout 2= -$50
  • Total = -$223
Money in
  • Sales so far: 1 (Added a $0.30 item and bought it myself to check things)
  • Earnings so far: $0 (or should i say -$223.30 Paypal ate those $0.30 in fees)
How it is been so far

Shoutouts didn't do well for me, from the two shoutouts i bought, even though one page had insane engagement rate and i did get a decent number of visits, none bought. I got 6 abandoned checkouts of which 1 one was a fully info filled checkout with $90 worth of items, might be because i only accept paypal and have no means of using credit cards processing. People in the comments were commenting they loved the things i was selling. So i don't really understand what the deal is, maybe the niche doesn't really have a buy-prone following base. Maybe i don't have quite what they are looking for.

Will keep going for one more week, will think about other ways of getting traffic and will try paid traffic too(not shoutouts), if no sales then i'll move to a different niche.

Good luck op..May I know the name of the drop shipping plugin?

78 for vps is quite big part of your expenses. Why don't you choose something more cheaper? Do you really need cpanel? There free analogs like vestacp.

Do you use alidropship as plugin ? How you manage payments ? Paypal? Also...how expensive are your products ?

It is not the only site i have, also even though i have a lot of products, hosted images, and long descriptions, even when doing shoutouts that i'm receving like 100+ visitors per minute in the first few minutes, my site loads really fast and smoothly. You're right, i'm spending too much, more than i should. But i like that machine.

Yes and yes. Products range from $6 to $200. Got about 120 products right now i think.

I'll update this journey once a week or once every two weeks. That is a good enough time frame for updates on stats and things done.

For now know that i'm changing niche in a week if i don't make any sale by then.

Another potential journey, beautiful and will root for you

Well, no sales at all. I've been using optimized links for google analytics to check how users are flowing through the site. Bounce rate is low, but no users get to the cart page anymore which means they are not finding anything they really, really like, this is probably because i picked quite a broad niche but i only cover a handful of areas within the niche i picked.

I rushed in to this and didn't do enough niche research, just thought it would be a good niche and went with it only to find out theres really low buyer intent within it... Also there's quite some competition too which is probably taking in the few users that would want to buy. Will pick in a more intelligent way from now on.

What i'll be doing the next few days/weeks

I've been doing some research, using different tools and looking up around social media to see what sells good, what people would like buying, decided on a decent niche and already found a supplier which offers a nice good quality range of products within this niche, already contacted him and i'm good to go.

I'll be now resetting my store to this new niche, will do instagram ads this time, no shoutouts anymore for a while for me.

That's -10 dollars for a new domain now.

Will update in a week or so.

Good luck, I've done some dropshipping myself so will love to see how well it works for you :D
