I have a question. I am looking to create a small site, I will be selling a product that will be shipping from China. Shipping will take a little longer than if I was to ship it from the US. What are some things we can let the buyers know so they are not mad when there package arrives a bit later than usual USA shipping?

I want to make it seem as if we are shipping from a warehouse in the US. Also, whats the usual time frame? about a week?

Well, you can always tell them it takes maybe 3-5 days to process their orders. But wouldn't the package show that it arrived from China anyways?

It doesn't necessarily take longer from china... but buddy got something from Japan once, and it got to his house in 5 days, I've had stuff take longer to get here from one state over than that... shipping products is quite odd, sometimes it takes a while sometimes it doesn't... other times your stuff gets lost and not delivered for like a month =\

Normally, if sent from China using China airmail it might take about 10-15 days, however, if you use Speedpost/EMS/DHL then it only takes 3-4 days ....

Moreover, if you send from China to the US, your buyer might have to pay customs duty .... so you better tell them that his product comes from China and not from the US. Otherwise, if he has to pay customs and was not informed about that before, he will complain and I think he won't buy again ...

You can ask your drop shipping company to declare as gift to your customer if you dun wan your customer to pay custom duty tax & etc.

I have a company in HK that works with postal services. If you have shipments from China, consider shipping it to HK first and use our service because we can use Royal Mail and Singapore Post. With them, your place of origin will be either UK or Singapore and not China or HK. PM me...

Just out of curiosity, how long is the average shipping time for an item from HK to California?

It will be shipped through DHL, I was quoted anywhere between 3-5 days. Also, how do I know If I have to pay customs fee?

It depends on the method you use to ship. Usually to the states it takes 7-15 days with Singapore Post. For DHL, it takes 3-5 days. And the sender will have the option to tell DHL who takes care of any taxes. It will be on hold at customs until the fees are paid.

The truth is, China Post or HK Post can take up to 3-4 weeks. When you are lucky, it reaches a little earlier.

EMS/USPS will take 7-10 days. Rarely does it reach in 5-6 days.

DHL/UPS can reach within 5 days but for small packages, it is very expensive.

I ship daily to the US, both small packages and large packages. Trust me, I know.

It is best to come clean with your customer. Just say that your warehouse is in China. No shame in that since everything is manufactured in China. It shows that your stuff comes to them direct, thus saving money.

Time to advertise myself a little. I can pretty much source for anything under the sun, at wholesale quantities. I'm Chinese, born and bred that can actually speak/write good English.

Really? Can you pls PM me a list of your products.

I am actually looking for suppliers of any products I might be interested for.

I've seen sellers admitting that they are dropshipping from china. I liked the attitude. On the other side, maybe some customers will walk way once they know it. There's no perfect solution.
