I don't know if you guys would frown upon this or not.. if so.. well then I apologize.

but has anyone tried getting maxed out on the extra 8gb referral dropbox offers?

I've tried posting on twitter/facebook/etc and emailing everyone I can think of in my contacts.. but I've only got 1gb of extra storage.. I'm getting close to maxing out and would like to get my space up without having to pay a monthly fee.

so my question is this.. if you have done this.. what all do they require before they reward you the extra 250gb.

obviously use different emails, proxies when signing up.. but to complete it you have to have them install the dropbox software as well.. does it verify the email is the same as the signup ip or anything like that.. how do I go about that part.. ?

I referred a family member (same IP, but different computer so they really did install the client and use it). I didn't encounter any problems with that, and got the credit.

Have you considered trying SugarSync instead of dropbox? They work in a similar way, but they give you far more storage allowance to start off with - so no need to try to game the system.

I checked them both out.. looks like they both offer 5gb to start off with.

I gotta figure out what my partner wants to do.. I'm just so used to dropbox right now cause I've had it for like 3-4 years.. but if I let myself some of these might be better.

hmm.. 2$/month for 60gb isn't bad either.

think ure looking at their trial. its like 9.99 a month for 60 GB. I know theyre working on iphone and android, so you may just check it out, sample it, use it, refer, and what not. it looks very promising and so far it's been fine with me in terms of syncing, adding content etc.

If only I learned about this first before I uploaded 5GB of files on DropBox

i used dropbox too at one point. i just dragged and dropped the files from one folder to another. required me to re-upload all that again but it's quite "painless" if you got a decent up-link (200 KB/s)

woops you are right.. lol

I have around 4gb scape on dropbox. try to reffer your friends and ask them to install, they can remove that later if they dont it.
