I have now seen 2 instances where there has ben a huge drop in traffic when websites have been moved or updated. I'm no developer, but what do I need to watch out for when I hear that a client is updating their websites or moving hosting providers?
Make sure that all of your URL's match. I moved a website over to wordpress using the exact same text and URLs. Many pages stayed up but I got slammed pretty hard. You are going to loose some steam if you switch servers.
