Hi, everyone I'm new to this forum. It's a pleasure to be here. So I've made a few landing pages but I'm having trouble getting people to notice them. I understand that Google Ad Word is a sufficient way of getting people to notice and click on my advertisement. But I'm looking for something more. As I understand it backlinks essentially link web pages together. But it perplexes me how it's done. Is there some magic backdoor where you attach the link? Then it automatically pops up as an advertisement or a forum post, people click on it and BAM traffic? Is having a forum signature like backlinking? I have so many questions and I 'd be very grateful if a you guys and gals could answer them. Thanks!

well, my friend, all of this info is here on the forum, and in wso's.you need to read and understand some of them so you know what you are doing.but in answer to your question, backlinking is simply placing yor landing page url on another website.when that link is crawled, you now have a backlink to your landing page

Do you need to get permission in order to post the backlink on another website? Is there a directory of websites that you can post the backlink on automatically? Like commanding an army of bots to do your bidding. This is all extremely fascinating.

neo's link is a great resource to begin learning about backlinks. Absorb as much info from that as you can.

Unfortunately driving traffic to your website typically isn't quite as easy as placing a link somewhere on the internet and suddenly getting significant traffic. It can be; if you, let's say, buy a link (grey/blackhat) on another (relevant) website that itself garners significant traffic, though that isn't the end all-be all method.

Social media is often another great avenue to pursue in this regard. I can talk ad nauseum about that, though you didn't mention it so I won't hijack the thread.
Yes or no, depending on where the link is on the website.
Some websites even sell ad space which, as one can assume, require permission (and money) to obtain. Though at a lower, less effective level you can even place a link in the comments section of an article and that's a backlink.
Directory - no not really. But tools, yes. Scrapebox, GSA, there's a million.
