Driving around with ads on cars?

Does putting ads on cars help get a decent amount of traffic to justify the fuel costs+ad costs? I'm considering doing in the next couple of weeks when I launch a white hat site. I found that I could get 2 12"x24"(30cm by 60cm) magentic banners for only $52. My fuel costs are also about $0.038 to $0.042 per mile now, due to lower gas costs and since getting a prius, compared to about $0.165 per mile about 2 months ago.

Is it worth spending getting the ads and just drive around more often, so that I could get the website name out, or do people not pay attention to ads on cars?

You could totally use that for a tax write off. Ha!

Thats one of the reason I would want to do it, but I only think that just driving around for advertising is a write off only going to business related stuff such as jobs,conventions,meetings etc.. But if I were to drive to Vegas for ungagged from where I live, and had the ads on I would be able to write off $1986 while only spending $187 on gasoline(probably much less since gasoline is going to drop between now and nov). But with a flight it would cost about $300 and I would only be able to write off $300 from taxes.

It definitely works, that is why a lot of businesses do it.

Try it out and track the direct hits through to your website along with any increase in geo traffic from the areas you are driving through.

It depends on if the domain is easy to remember or not. I have seen several ads on cars that I was interested in but most of the time I could not remember the domain by the time I got home.

Make sure the domain is nice and large and easy to read from farther than 3 feet away.

It's streetganic and they want it before they called. I don't purposely drive for it but it wouldn't hurt.

I use perforated window laminate. Where the laminate is white with little holes (3m makes) so I can see out. On outside digital printed anything and hard to see through. Almost like vehicle wraps. Both sides of my big rear suburban windows 200+ then the back windows 150ish. Another thing I do is almost always go public in company t-shirt, but my Grandma says I have no couth. Keep it pro and easy.

Magnets are great too I just spoiled myself.

I would go with something like that, but the problem is that Its harder to change out, whereas with magnets I can just change take them off and put some for another website.

Had a similar idea a while back. It's when I was doing my eBay thing, I had a pretty good and steady supplier for a drop shipping model. I'd resell and create a profit margin of around $40 -$60 per product.

I was getting tired of eBay, it brought constant and reliable traffic but the fees were starting to bug me out. Also, the staff are pains in the ass to say the least.

So I thought I'd just create my own website to sell the stuff, but how would I drive traffic? I wanted my own rules.

Since I was selling things like laptops and Beats headphones, I wanted to drive over to every electronics outlet I could think of. Best Buy, Radioshack. What else... Just anywhere like that. I'd create a flyer for my site and advertise something like this,

"Brand new electronic goods. Save up to $75 on your favorite items. Visit blahblah.co today. Why shop here when you could get your beloved tech delivered right to your doorstep, and for cheaper?"

Maybe it would've brought in some conversions. In order to sway people from getting sketched out, the flyers and website and the whole nine yards would have to look totally professional. But yeah, the thing blew quick so forget about it but. Think of the opportunities. So I guess the conclusion is, whatever your doing in business try and pinpoint where your markets are. Find the people and spread the word. Like, before the Internet became what it is. What did people do? Flyers, door to door, word of mouth, business connects. Now it's so damn easy, pay $100 for some traffic on YouTube and watch the drones come flying in.

why not just pay someone to do it? or why not do both?

i'm pretty sure you can find somebody on fiverr who does this and sends videoproof

actually these offline gigs aren't garbage, if you wanna go offline, there are quite a few creative ones or even the regular billboards, handing out flyers type
from the $50, you can order 9 gigs, which will yield in more results i think than if you'd do only the car ad for yourself
not too much tax write off from those though

Oh my Bosh you mean we don't need billboards?? No lie I like that idea. Although, I'd be wary of the people who say they drive around with your ads 24/7. Maybe it's because I'm the cautious type, but still. They'll take a pic, send for confirmation and proceed without it. There's no way to be sure.

yea, that's true

but you will see, if you get visits to the site or not, only after you ordered the gig though lol

i think you can find gigs with bunch of positive reviews and maybe people say more than just "outstanding experience" and describe there that they really received traffic, also there are people who offer video proof, that is harder to fake
it can be faked too, but let's say the seller promises a 7 days promotion, you can ask for a video proof of him/her holding a daily newspaper (or anything which can prove the date accurately) next to your ad on his/her car every day preferably on a crowded street, so you can see that the car wasn't in a garage for the whole week

Depends upon what you are trying to Promote but If its a Website about a Place like Resturentsinbrooklyn and you drive around brooklyn then it can be useful

Make something controversial and get people to take pictures of your car because they find it funny. Prime example of this is Starbucks that misspells names so that people will take pictures of their misspelled name to get even more publicity.

If it works, I'll also pay people to do it as well. Maybe I wont just go driving around for hours, but I'll consider taking some more small trips to do things. For example if I go to Orlando,FL from where I live it will only cost me $29 each way compared to $126 each way it would have cost me 1 year ago.

Magnetic banners seem like the best one for IM'rs since we may have multiple sites and/or switch sites. Compared to wraps which look alot better but cost much more and take longer to remove to put a new one on.

If you're going to be driving anyway, then putting ads on your car is a great idea if you have a service or product that would appeal to the locals (e.g., driving around a retirement community with ads for Beats by Dee most likely wouldn't convert well).

Since I work in the graphic vinyl vehicle wrap niche I may be able to contribute some helpful info. I know that your local service businesses, especially those that service consumers, have probably the most to benefit. Think, Carpet Cleaners, Landscapers, Plumbers, Contractors, etc.

It was recently reported that a vehicle wrap generates anywhere between 30,000-75,000 impressions a DAY! Yes, I said a day. And with the one time cost of getting a wrap that should last min. 5 years ranging $1200-$4,000(depends if its a full or partial wrap), it is the most effective form of advertising. What other ways can you get your business in front of that many people a day for roughly $50.00(based on $3,000 cost for wrap over 5 years).

There are other important aspects you need to take into consideration if you decide to implement this strategy and get the maximum results!
