DreamHost VS HostGator

Ok, I need some help here based on your experience on which host is better.

HostGator just cost more than Dreamhost, but I here Dreamhost is better than than HostGator and the price is much competitive.

Just need your feedback if Dreamhost is better than HostGator?

HostGator for sure. I used both few years ago (before starting my own hosting company), dreamhost was very slow at some moments and I really hated their support
 
Hostgator has the best customer service even if its pricy I would rather pay something that has a good customer service
 
I know that's the one thing that turns me off about DreamHost. They have no phone-support, but their pricing seems enticing.

Not sure if I'm really going to need phone-support though.
 
I've only used HostGator, and never had any problems with down-time, support, billing, etc. Their customer support is excellent.
 
Hostgator charge stupid price's for hosting, I'd recommend hostthename.

I use them personally, the support is amazing and the server's are pretty quick and very cheap :)
 
I've only used Hostgator and Godaddy. Had some problems with godaddy because of some autoblog complaints so I moved to hostgator. I've been using them for few years and never had major issues (one that I remember when one of my sites was shutdown because it was eating all server resources :) ).
 
straight NO for hostgator.

They try being too professional you have no idea how many hours of downtime I faced because of them.

They will shut down your site for any issue & till you speak to them only then will they turn it back live.

At one stage I lost 48hours of traffic I lost it & told them to cancel my plan, my experience with HG not a good one.
 
I have quite a few friends on dreamhost and they seem to think its pretty decent, but they have said it can be a bit slow at times. But there doing alot blackhat things on there and dreamhost doesnt seem to care. Plus I think there pricing is pretty decent in my mind.
 
Well hostgator is great, but the only thing that I hate about them is that your account is comsuming more than 25 % resources alocated to every shared hosting they will lock your website and you will lose traffic and ranks in serp. That's the reason why I moved all my websites from hostgator, where I had 3 hostings and had the same problem with all.
No warning, just locked my website.

All hosts are are like that, althought not sure about the actual perecntage of resource before they take yoru site down.
