dreamhost or godaddy?

hello mates,,i just want to start a website and see that godaddy and dreamhost has very decent discount offers with free domain regitration.
i wonder which one is best and why,,,,have heard negative reviews about both but found recently that they've improved their servers,,,so any suggestion or thoughts?

Both suck.
Use mediatemple.net or hostwinds.com
Hostwinds got a very nice team (They help you with ANYTHING you need)
Mediatemple will NEVER shutdown your website
 
can anyone else confirm hostwinds is good?
 
do not use godaddy for hosting, period. no their servers did not improve (or if they did then i can't imagine how aweful they were in the past). no hosting at godaddy, this isn't even up for debate.

dreamhost's hosting is ok but they have a very non user friendly control panel, it's ridiculous really.

many people like hostgator (me too i have to say)

=)) Hostgator has become a joke. More and more people are having problems with them.
 
hostwind one of the best hosting that i have ever used..
 
Why have you concentrated on these hosts? Why don't you use hosting from obhosting or ifastnet companies? They are able to meet the needs of the greater part of the webmasters all over the IT world.
 
basically stay away from big hosts(HG, GD), find a smaller host and find reviews. Usually big hosts have good reviews because the affiliates suggest them.
 
Both dont have cPanel control panel

They use own custom control panel which could be a disadvantage while moving the accounts or managing it
 
A BIG no to Godaddy, they are horrible.

Never used Dreamhost, so I cannot say anything about it.
 
Putting in my two cents, I have tried both godaddy and dreamhost and they both suck in my opinion. The only good thing about dreamhost is their newsletter is kind of entertaining.

Hostgator is a commonly suggested one, and they have great customer support, but their admin control panel is a little confusing for beginners and they have issues with hosting multiple domains. Like sub-domain of your main domain, and now your domain has lost a lot of it's seo power.

Bluehost is another commonly suggested one, but I have never used it personally. I would check into some of the other suggestions from the members here. All the best!
 
Use dream host, I have used both and I try to avoid Go Daddy when possible
 
I wouldn't recommend GoDaddy. I have used hostwinds, and wouldn't recommend because once my website achieved a big chunk of visitors, it couldn't handle them. I would recommend mnchost or beamservers.
 
I am using dreamhost now. Other than their cpanel, i have no complaints.
 
My opinion..i tried,register,Godaddy and hostgator also..all suck.For me,only Bluehost works/i have an auction scripts,only works there/!
 
Most hosting companies give away a free domain with shared hosting accounts. To be honest, DreamHost and GoDaddy would be far from my first choice for a hosting account. I'd recommend BlueHost, though.
