What are the rules in this type of area? Can you sue?
i don't understand your question. if you think i brake up any rule, i assure you i didn't. and that was a totally white hat business.
What are the rules in this type of area? Can you sue?
This is why i don't use H0stgat0r or dr3amh0st they suck when it comes to server security and directory traversals are so easy to do on sites hosted on both H0stgat0r and dr3amh0st.
I host my sites on Media Temple Grid service they charge 20/mo the administration panel is fairly simple to use.
In short they offer everything nice and i've been happy ever since i purchased from them.
If you have a serious business and you are earning serious money then why not invest in a serious server or at least a VPS?
Hello,
Right out of the gate, I need to apologize to those of you who have waited for a response to this issue. I was notified about this problem when I came into the office this afternoon and was passed the info by our admin team.
Some of the folks seeing this message are getting a response after sending in an initial request over 24 hours ago. We never try to let things go for this long - and the fact that there wasn't a status blog post when the issue was uncovered will be discussed in-depth - but mclean (which your sites are hosted on) has had a saturated network interface and our admin team has been working towards making improvements on that front.
First up was an upgrade of the network interface. This is outlined in the following blog post:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=vserver.usage&
As it stands, the load on the server is still quite high due to the network saturation issue. This means that your sites may still be intermittent. I earnestly wish that weren't the case. In fact, I'd rather tell you that everything is going to be smooth sailing from here on out. But I figure that being straight up with you would probably be more appreciated.
Normally, one user (sometimes two) is the cause of high server load. When that happens, it's pretty easy to ferret out the problem user and work with them to step the server's load back down. This is an interesting case tho as multiple users are actually the cause of the saturation. Adding to this is the scripts that are running for some other users who are being migrated to mclean as well.
If these migration processes could be stopped, it might be helpful. I've been told that we need to let them run their course tho.
So things aren't 100%. But they're better for most folks than they were a few hours ago. If you'd like any further updates, please don't hesitate to respond to this message and I'll do what I can to make sure you get the information that you deserve, okay?
Thanks,
Jason
P.S. While I've got you, I also need to apologize for using a canned response. The amount of support that was generated by this problem called for it tho. If I could respond to each question individually, I would have. The easiest way to send out an update on this issue was by taking this approach. I hope you understand that.
P.P.S. If there was something that I didn't manage to cover in this response, let me know immediately and I'll do everything I can to address your issues.
