Dreamhost = dont do it - Alternatives

I have been with dreamhost for a year - right now we are in a downtime on a Monday going on 10 hours.
It's time to go
They were having problems when I first started but they cleared them up but today is just unacceptable.

Anyone know of a good host?
I have 2 drupal websites and 3 wordpress sites and a couple of non database websites
My traffic is not through the roof yet but it is making me some money

Downtown Host and KnownHost have always been solid hosting for me and support has been awesome. They dont offer unlimited everything and a bit more expensive, but worth it in my opinion

Stay away from bluehost.

I was testing syn attack on friend's website and it collapsed after just 2 minutes.
I was using laptop with 2GB of ram and 1mbps upload DSL.

Stupidly lame. No host can afford such a mistake when it's so easy to protect against it lol.
 
running well over 15 websites on hostgator, no problems so far, been with them for over 3 years now.

almost 8pm EST and they still havent fixed the problem
they are saying it is a core network outage...
someone said they have no redundancy

is this true of most hosts?

my html based websites are doing fine though on their servers right now so obviously it's a database server thing

So many people are pissed off at Dreamhost they could lose a 1/3 of their business today

Heard about media temple also anyone know about them?

It's gonna be a pain to move my websites but I gotta do it
 
Depending on your traffic, it's probably a good idea to opt for a VPS, just check that the provider is reputable. I currently have a dedicated server for my client's and my main websites plus half a dozen VPS for IP variety. Try getting a decent managed VPS with cpanel license, that should work just fine.

*edit*: Forgot to add, the reason I mentioned the dedicated server was that for most websites it doesn't make much of a difference if it's a dedicated server or a VPS as long as it's a good provider (ie. good server specs, good datacenter, etc.).

For VPS+ I would suggest LiquidWeb.. Top quality, I am with them around 3 years now.
 
Leaseweb rock the planet... but only the dedicated plans so you need some linux skills
 
dreamhost = no goog , their panel its sooo slow and server are down at lest 12 hours a week , i used to have an acount with them 3 years sending tickets to support every week

no im running on a reseller on hosting cant be happier

thats just my personal opinion
 
Well, you can check extrawinnner service here, on BST thread. i always refer people to get his hosting package. so good so far.
 
we use hostwinds they have been a great company and I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Bluehost, Justhost, iPage, FatCow and others are the exact same company.
Don't let them fool ya.

Gator and Webhostingpad are no part of their network and you can host there.
 
Get a VPS they are more solid and you have you own dedicated resources

I just used liquid web with interspire on a vps and I got shut the next day. Why? How come you are still on?
