DR vs DA question case study

Quick question - I know that my DA or DR does not matter, but out of curiosity: one of my sites is 10 years old, clean natural backlink portfolio, and the DA is 17 but the ahrefs DR is only 1.7

I know it does not matter, but I am curious if anyone would know why there is such a discrepancy; I am trying to learn the core difference b/w DR and DA as to how well they reflect a website's strength.

I would enjoy a good guide to what the various proprietary SEO metrics are actually measuring, if anyone has a link to one.
 
I don't have any case-study type of specifics to give you but DA belongs to MOZ and they are notorious for lacking behind all SEO tools.

When did the last update their systems? I think people only use their tool because of the 30-day free trial.

Different companies use different metrics measure them. Ahrefs for DR and Moz for DA.

I don't know if there are any case studies but it wouldn't matter much. I usually rate Ahrefs DR higher than Moz's DA. But can be manipulated.
 
The significant difference between your site's DA (17) and Ahrefs DR (1.7) likely indicates that while your site may have some quality backlinks, it may not have a diverse enough backlink profile to register a higher DR, as DR places more weight on the diversity and quality of referring domains, while DA primarily considers the overall authority of your site

Really it doesn't matter just focus on relevant backlinks, see every tools has their metrics to measure your website quality. I would love to suggest to use Google search console there you get to know which links Google are using for ranking. Thank you.
 
Ahref and Moz use different and independent algorithms to analyze websites. Therefore, their results may not match with each other. You can expect positive outcomes, if you should focus on producing high-quality work.
