I'm kinda down on it all. Have a strong Twitter account, which gets upwards of 200 retweets per Tweet and around 25,000 impressions per Tweet. Tried linking to site in two Tweets yesterday, but only got around 50 sessions for each (on Google Analytics) and no clicks via ads.

I know it's a very small sample and this could be an overreaction, but I've extrapolated the numbers in my head and come up with the conclusion that it's simply difficult to direct my strong Twitter engagement to the kind of traffic I need to make decent money out of it.

Am I being reasonable in my assumptions, or are these common teething problems everyone goes through when starting off?

Generally I've found that it's hard to get people to click on just a link. That's why lots of people post pics with their links or videos. Have you tried that?

Thanks for your reply, yeah I've been incorporating images and tried out a Twitter card for the other one.

Unless you are in a high targeted and highly active engagement niche you will need to take extra steps to pull traffic from Twitter, and it could be even harder to convert that traffic even if you get them to click your links. I say look through some threads, and see what others are doing to increase clickthrough rates on twitter campaigns.
