Everywhere we go, we are bombarded by non-stop content which comes from large and influential institutions. A lot of it isn't too good for us, but we don't have a choice but to see it.

Well of course the billboards dont own reddit or vice versa. What I'm getting at in terms of being a double standard isn't so much reddit in specific, but the overall system which large companies such as Clear Channel (billboards) or Reddit regulate according to their interests.

The double standard is that there's really strict regulations on what small businesses can advertise, so they must resort to blackhat techniques, for example to cloak a gambling ad. Because supposedly this kind of content is harmful, according to said platforms. But there is no cloaking necessary if you are able to afford a billboard, which everyone and their mother driving on past it will see and be affected by.

I don't have the feeling that it's a double standard, but in general I think advertising for these things is very bad. I don't care if it's on billboards or reddit.
