Double 301 question

Guys,

Anyone tested something like this:

Redirect 301 pretty strong domain to internal page that is redirected to the home. For example:

301 - strongdomain.com -> mywebsite.com/strongdomain/
301 /strongdomain/ -> /homepage/

The purpose is Google to crawl the /strongdomain/ URL and "believe" that there is some relevancy.

What do you think?

It will be a good impact for "short term".

The logic all the backlinks from strong domain will pass to your moneysite. But it doesn't good for long term.

Actually 301 works wonders anyway, if the domain is kinda relevant at least. Did it for websites years ago and the rankings is still good. The problem however is that if Google doesnt find relevancy it count the links as soft 404 and there is no positive movements so thats why I am asking if someone tried this in order to get relevancy for their 301..

Let's pretend you have a niche about fitness (gymfitness.com). You find an expired domain such as bicepworkouts.com that has good backlinks but it is only related to bicep workouts.

Would it be better to have the 301 redirect from bicepworkouts.com to gymfitness.com or a page dedicated to bicep workouts such as gymfitness.com/bicepworkouts

How long can these links provide upward movement ?

Yeah some link juice is lost, but this is not a problem, as is better to lose some link juice, than all of it due to lack of relevancy..

If you redirect directly to /biceps../ you can expect this particular page to jump a lot, and some minor upward movements for the whole website due to internal linking.

If you redirect to the homepage you can expect moderate increase of the ranking of the homepage + the rest of the website (internal linking), but not spectacular movements for specific page like in the variant 1.
So all in all you have to decide - do you want this specific page to increase a lot, or the whole website to increase a bit.

Links doesn't work for "time". Your website may increase its ranking to some point, first position even - as long as the links are there and the situation doesn't change - your ranking will stay. However some of the links may drop, your competition may outrank you - so you can lose your rankings if you did not continue to build links.

While I'm here, hope you don't mind me asking another question related to 301 redirects. I want to try an experiment. I've bought 6 expired domains with a specific keyword. I've set up one of them as a money site, and for the other 5, I want to use them all to 301 redirect to the money site. In order to do this though, do I need to make sure that all the domains are indexed? So I'd need to submit some relevant content onto the website and wait for Google to index it. And then I can do the 301 redirect?

Any advice/opinions on this?
