Dotwriter rejected my article. Here's the article.

I submit it, they reject. however, take a look.

You work hard and make a great outcome and some people blows your credits away saying "You are one lucky person" or something related.


Are those some people really right or is luck a ton of bullshit?


Actually, it's a bit of both. When you have a nice family where all love you, money for your studies, a good home, where you can fall back to, then you are a little lucky I'd say. That way, your success achievement is more likely to happen.


But there's also the side where you become carefree about your future as you have lots of cars in your big palace while cash flow is present.


But most of us have a dream to chase and we run behind it to get a nice life, so we can afford greater things etc etc.


Do those criticizers say it right by thanking luck or do you deserve a pat on your back with "Congrats! Good Job"?


Luck matters, that's true. We have our amazing mother, father, bros and sisters. Our good environment is a upper hand for sure but not everything is luck's credit. I, we all have to drop some sweat and work hard to play our roles in life of responsibilities. We have the kind of busy life that doesn't let us take off for 2 days too. Success or stable life doesn't come that easy.


So, is luck a bullshit?


No, it isn't. There are times when you get lucky and there are times when you get lucky enough to turn your life's tables over. The time you won the first prize in lottery draw was your luck which no one had. When you place a bet on that number ''32'' and it changes your life financially, then it's your luck and not effort.


But the luck thing is a rare occurence which for most happens once in a lifetime or for some....... never. You have to understand that life is not a 'Monopoly' game to change lucks. While someone watches youtube videos someone gets busy with physics, chemistry etc. research. That's how a success and a non-success is separated.


People overpowered luck in their life and we've seen those examples millions of times. Nelson mandela, Ralph Lauren, Oprah Winfrey are some hefty examples. So, instead of just blaming it on luck or crediting your luck, put it on your efforts and breakthroughs.


Don't trust those who say you're born lucky, reply them and yourself that, "I know what I'm capable of and I know what it took." Cheers.

I wrote this working hard.

Not that it's the best, but they weren't also paying me 'k' bucks. It was only 8$.

Is it so bad?

How many words is the article? I started reading it and skipped some paragraph.. Lots of fluff.

Well not familiar with dotwriter at all. If the quality there is rather low I would not see why they rejected. On the other hand, should they focus more on quality then I have to say I would not accept your article either as
1) too much fluff
2) just does not read well and you need to work o that grammar and sentence structure etc.

I think next time, I'll make the gist of my article and then submit it. And of course, fix the grammatical mistakes.

Not gonna go for dotwriter any soon.

I wouldn't pay $8 for that. You need to work on your grammar, because there are a lot of errors in that article.

Yeah, I overlooked that part. Donno why, I didn't take time to revise my article.
 
I hate to say it but at $8 they are going to be expecting native English is probably your issue. Right from the get go there are errors and you can tell its not written by a native English speaker.

Yeah, I'm not a native writer and that's not my best you see. I made that article in 30 minutes. Was just nudging dotwriter.

To me, it seems that there must be a market for non-native English articles. This is something that I have been trying to find. Example: a non native English speaking person would like to write articles. Then, they need a native English speaking person to translate and "clean-up" their article so that it will pas all scrutiny. This is just a general idea of mine and I have no idea how to implement it!

I will try to help the OP with some constructive feedback.

As said above, for $8 I'm not surprised it got rejected.
I hire native speakers that can actually write for around that price.

The biggest problems are:

1) It's some way off native level.
2) It's structured poorly, is repetitive with too much 'fluff'

Now, I believe non-native speakers can write at native levels (see: Joseph Conrad) and a lot of native speakers can't write for shit. There's more to it than correct grammar and syntax (see: BHW's posts by Jared and Aluminium).

Some examples of both in the article are uncountable nouns being plural, missing articles, the use of 'etc, etc' and phrases like "success achievement"...

I am staying in hospital overnight so I rewrote half the article. On my cellphone. I tried to keep it as close to the original article as possible. If I wrote it from scratch, I'd cut it in half, add some real life examples and quotes to make it more engaging.

Is Luck A Fact?

You work hard, and thankfully success follows. Inevitably, someone comes along to rain on your parade. 'You're one lucky guy!' they'll say, or something equally patronizing. Doubts then begin to creep in.

Do we really need luck to be succesful? Or is "luck" an easy explanation for hard work and dedication?

The answer is probably "both". Sucess is easier to achieve from a stable base. Especially if you're "Lucky Enough" to have a loving family, a good home and some savings to fall back on.

However, there's also the flip side. A big house with nice cars could help you live fancy and carefree. To want for nothing. For many of us, that is "Living the dream". We desperately want the finer things in life.

So, are the critics right when they point to "Dumb Luck"? Or are you not receiving the rightful credit for a job well done?

Luck matters, that's true. Coming from a good family and a nurturing enviroment will undoubtedly give you a head start. But to be succesful often takes more than dumb luck.

From a writer's point of view, your article has errors that you could have avoided had you proofread the article. I read a few paragraphs; I couldn't read the whole thing because much of what you are trying to say does not make sense, to say the least. Of course, the article is full of fluffs, and it's quite redundant. Moreover, your word choice is wanting for sure. Although you can use tools like grammarly to check grammatical errors, I can tell you from experience that this tool won't do the bigger part of the job.

Your article simply lacks creativity. In my opinion, it doesn't deserve $8, much less even a penny. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it's true.
