Anyone from the uk in a dotas scheme? I'm in one.. Now had some
bad news..

basically new government legislation has been passed where any tax scheme which
you saved tax in, you now have too pay it back within 90 days.
Whereas before the taxman had to prove in court that the tax scheme was not compliant.

if you in the uk and an entrepreneur you get screwed by the taxman.

No wonder why so many of the uk's best business people actually don't live in the Uk

This goes for many of the major governments in the world, not just the U.K.

Time to find a new country? There are many that sell citizenships.

Get on a plane before midnight tomorrow. Check the rules on how many days you can be in the UK, visit relatives, work, etc. and wave goodbye. :-)

ouch.......it's never worth trying to evade tax. The Government puts more effort into this than catch peudo's, murders, rapists etc.... They seem to have bottomless pits of money chasing/closing off tax loopholes. |except for Amaazon/ Google/Starbucks etc..because those t*** in charge all have huge shares in these companies.

Rapist will get about 5 years tax avoider will get about 6+ and all assets seized. it isn't worth it.

Get out of the uK..it's going to the dogs anyway. Go live in Dubai/Monaco etc..

Bye the way what is the Dota scheme?

I seE a few big celeb's got caught up in a few.....but i see they never got any prison time.

Justice is paid for in the uk THESE DAYS.

If you are anywhere and an entrepeneur you get screwed by the taxman. The taxman screws us all, then spends your money on great ideas like funding a fake Twitter clone in Cuba.

you living in Dubai? What's it like? Apart from **** hot and sandy?

Big money floating around|?

Leave the UK and do NOT tell the taxman and make sure that anybody you do tells keeps quiet. The debt will eventually be sold on and as you cannot be found the debt becomes statute barred in six years. This is an option being considered by some people on another forum I visit - I remain to be convinced if this will work. You should speak to a lawyer to find out if it will work.

Also, to the person going on about tax evasion and then later calling it avoidance, please learn the difference between evasion and avoidance. Avoidance is perfectly legal but evasion is illegal.

This has nothing to do with evasion. It is related to perfectly legal tax planning schemes which had registered with HMRC and received a scheme number. Now they are using those who were upfront about using these schemes to decide who to go after. All that will happen is that tax planning schemes will go offshore and not be declared to the taxman.

If you are planning to use a scheme use one without a DOTAS number. In the long run leave the country.

Wrong there are plenty of countries with little to no tax obligation for internet entrepreneurs. You'd be surprised.
