Not sure if anyone uses it or not, about 4 months ago I wrote about 15 articles for articlesbase, product reviews with the hoplink at the bottom using G's shortening service. They were fine for a few months and I've made a few sales from it. Logged into G today to check the shortening service stats and they've all been disabled due to 'spam' :| assholes. Bear in mind, I built very backlinks to these articles and just let them sit. The articles were all original, not spammy. G still canned all my links. Just spent the last 20 mins changing them all to bit ly links instead
Thats not cool to hear from big G. Sorry about that man, maybe one of us should rise and provide a similar service.
It's all good man, just thought Id let people know. There are quite a few others out there, not sure which ones are trustworthy or not, but bit ly seems to work well and I've never had links removed from there (that I know of).
its always better to use your own domains for short links if you want them to live permanently and get better click through's. No url shortening service will get enough clicks as compared to the numbers you'll get for your own domain
its certainly best to use your own domain then you never have to worry about some asshole site changing their code and putting popups on it or who knows what else.
Well thanks for sharing homenet =) , but there are some people saying it's always better yo use your own domain , any clue how can i do that ? because am thinking in making that on my own website !
Yeah in hindsight I should have used my own domain, at the time I didn't have a suitable generic name one (Yeah I know, I should have just bought a cheap one). YehiaPC: Yeah all you need is your own domain, and a script that does it. I don't know of any scripts off the top of my head. But, alternatively you could simply add entries to your .htaccess file like this: redirect 301 /blar/ http://affiliatelinkgoeshere.com then when someone visits yourdomain.com/blar they get redirected to your affiliate link. You just then create a new entry for each redirect you want.
