Don't understand why can't go to page 1

I don't understand what is wrong with my website. I have been building links consistently but its so hard to get to Page 1. I have 1 keyword on page 3 that I can't push to page 1. The rest of the keywords are below that. The brand name itself is on page 1 so its not penalised.

However the google review gave me a 3.6 *. Do you guys reckon its the reviews weighing me down?

There are several causes for hitting someone with better results on the Page, The Most important is an On-page Structure with properly Optimized content, The Keyword should Optimized in the correct ratio without overdoing it's very important. The reason of the competition of your keyword May Stuck your website in the same Position.

So I suggest:
  • Analyze your keyword competition & find the difficulties of your present keywords
  • Quality Backlinks are very important rather than Quantity.
  • Disavow immediately if is there any spam, or any unwanted link targeting your website.
Maybe this will help to get a better SERP.
 
Page 3 or #3?

How many monthly searches does it have and what is that keyword's difficulty?

How competitive is your niche? Take a closer look at your top competitors. Analyze the content and user experience on the websites currently on Page 1 for your target keywords. Look for patterns or features they have that your site might be missing.
 
Building links consistently doesn't matter much. It depends upon the quality of the links, articles, domains, and how you are diversifying the anchor profiles. As advised, analyze your competitor's strategy, on page structure, keyword optimization, & website performance.

Boosting your reviews might help a bit, but if you're stuck on Page 3, there's probably more need of better website content and more good links from other sites to climb higher in the search results
