Don't understand this keyword logic.

I typed in anxiety as a keyword right. It gets 368,000 searches per month. It's a high competition keyword. But isn't that sort of a good thing?

Low competition keywords have something like 1,900 searches per month, so even though it's low competition I mean are you actually going to get a lot of people visiting your site regardless? I mean if no one is searching for the keyword then why bother making it? Is this where advertisement comes in? And then after some advertisement you can be the number 1 basketball player by yourself? Get the analogy, lol.

If you have a website that ranks 15 on a 300000 searches/month you will probably get more views than if it would be placed on 1 place at a 1900 searches.
 
Don't confuse ranking competition with advertising competition. Ideally speaking, you should be looking for low ranking competition with high advertising competition. Why? The more advertisers, the more they pay. Low ranking competition so you actually stand a chance on being on the first page.

That's what I'm saying so isn't it better to work with high competition keywords rather than low ones? Can someone clear this up? I guess it's really hard to rank a website you just started with a lot of competition?

Advertising competition huh? How do you search this? Is that the Adwords CPC thing?

Look guy I just started learning this type of stuff like 3 days ago while you've been here for like 4 years so why don't you take your negativity elsewhere mr. marketing genius.
 
After a second thought, I hate useless replies.. So, here it's : If you can rankmfor anixety, then, go for it. The problem is, you can't or it will cost hell a lot of money, time and wont be stable

Moreover, Broad keywords gets you untargeted traffic. If someone lands on your site for such keyword, do you have any idea what he really wants? medicine, solution, help, diet system... Etc

No advertiser in his right mind would bid on such keyword. 99% of broad keywords have no advertiser competition

Long tails keywords gets you targeted traffic and lucky for us they they have easy competiton and high advertisers. Ranking for 100 long tail keywords to get those 300k traffic would beat ranking for this one keyword any time. It will beat it in revenue, time and effort :-)

Anxiety is your keyword, a long tail keyword would be "How To Cure Anxiety With Meditation"

Lot less traffic, lot more targeted.
