In this post I will be explainin why you shouldn't focus completely on your "keyword research tools".

When searching for keywords many people use ton's of different tools & services. A common way to check a keyword is simply using the Google Keyword Research Tool. Usually people look for decent number of "local" searches per month & with little to no competition. (This is if they are trying to rank easy & hit a niche).

Here is the reason that you shouldn't trust these tools. Most people believe if you see "0" or "-" local & global searches per month this means people are not searching. 100 % WRONG.

I have many "micro-niche" websites alot along the lines of education & thousands of my keywords show 0 searches per month. Taking over a top spot for these is EXTREMLY EASY! & the best part is people do search!

I bring in $50 to $80 a day on just one of my micro-niche sites & have over 1,000 of these type of keywords that show 0 searches a month completely taken over! People Search & Buy Easy as That.

So take my advice if you believe a keyword sounds good & should get searched it probably does. Don't always believe what the Keyword research tools bring back to you & always remember you can be the creator of a niche ....that helps these search engines to start tracking better data.

You may be getting traffic from other keywords. For example, some of the sites I optimize for one keyword end up ranking for another one. I see no benefit on Google's behalf to make the keyword tool inaccurate. It is designed to help advertisers who pay them money. Google loves money.

But aren't the results always out of date? They're not live numbers. As I understand they are averaged out over the previous 12 months. So keywords that are being searched for today might not show up for awhile.

I like to use Google Insights. That shows up to date keyword trends and can be very useful.

Good ideas, are you making one authority site with tons of pages, or one MNS for each KW?

I personally use Google KW Tool, Traffic Trevis and Soovle.com when determining which main KW to choose. Google KW Tool according to my experience is about 70% correct, but with use of additional softwares and suggestion sites, you can be about 90 percent sure. With some experience and "feeling" you can come to 99%.
The truth is Google KW Tool is not precise but it gives you a good overview and feedback.

Traffic Travis I believe pulls from google? so should use other tools that do not pull from google:

    -keyword discovery
    -Wordtracker

I have one authority site & my product pages (keywords) rank in all their niche spots as well.

The keyword tool is so inaccurate & sometimes I laugh when people look at a "keyworded search term" that has no monthly results & thinks it's not profitable. Trust me it is & you should experiment if your gut tells you to.

Think logically & what you might possibly search for in your niche. If it makes sense & Google comes back with zero monthly search results, I say take a shot and test it. Don't believe these keyword tools!

It's not that Google designs the keyword tool a specific way to "benefit". I believe they simply don't know the data accurately enough or don't publish it correctly when the search results are too low.

But Google shouldn't do that because I have keywords that I know probably get searched maybe 70 times a month but I can make 40 sales in that month from the visits. Even though something gets searched only a few times, if it is a money keyword residual income is very possible.

Google should be putting all the data up even if a keyword is searched only 5 times a month.

Do you an enticing title. Is the description showing what visitors are looking for when they land on google page?

Johnnyd77 - This all depends on your micro-niche.

It is hard to find a micro-niche that is profitable but when you do if you get 10 searches a month you make sales. My micro-niche is based around impulse buying so i get 3 searches on one keyword, then 20 searches on another , 10 on another etc.... all which make sales.

Taking over these keywords is simple because no competition. So just research & try to find a profitable micro-niche.

This is the perfect question to ask. My pages specifically bring the visito to a page that has about 20 words on it. It gives the product name, whats included & the option to buy using a PayPal button or "add to cart feature".

When dealing with this little of traffic you don't want a long blog / sales pitch. Short & simple and make the sale.

Totally agree. Plus, the normal worldwide tool doesn't update all that fast if the term is of new popularity.

So far this week I've gotten over 100 visits from a term that has <10 searches a month in broad match.

I'd say you can trust it for the most part, but sometimes it's just way off.

mrfarshay, can you please expand on that. What are selling, a CPA offer? And what is your copywriting that entices people to buy that product (testimonial, etc.). What you are doing is incredible (for such little traffic) so whatever you can share would be GREATLY appreciated.

To: OP sorry if I am getting a bit off-topic.

Educational digital products is the market. Unfortunately this isn't really anything I can show or teach people how to do. I spent about six months learning different college courses like finance, sociology etc... Then I wrote up all the assignments, answered the quiz's & finals as I was taking the class myself.

This was an extreme amount of work but once I was finished I was able to package everything together for each college course & market the tutorials & guides. (This course work isn't something you can just buy / resale because of copyright issues & in this niche people research and are quite serious about it.) so unless people want to spend the time learning each course , and putting the work together it's kind of hard to get into.

With the products completed & my marketing and advertising experience I know how to rank for thousands of micro-niche keywords.

My ad copy is simple, I tell them what course it is & what's included with their purchase and a paypal button.

    Hope this helps you understand.
