Don't ignore Bing guys

Bing is slow (painfully slow) to pick up your site in the beginning, unlike Google. But once it does you can just sit back and let it do the job.
Bing picked up my site only last month after indexing a single article(some of you might have seen me whining about Bing not crawling my site). Had given up on Bing and didn't bother checking the Bing webmaster console, until today, and Bam! All my articles are not only indexed, every last one of them is ranking in the top 3 for core keywords.

In fact, I got more clicks from Bing in the last 2 weeks (around 200 with about 22% CTR) than I got from Google in the last 2 months (although Google shows more impressions). I am starting to think the only Amazon sale I got from my site actually was from a Bing visitor.

Now, maybe it's my niche that has appealed massively to Bing I don't know (my niche has a huge boomer userbase) but I am surprised at the pace with which Bing is picking up and ranking my site.

I was hugely undermining Bing like most bloggers do because that's how Bing is. Bing can get you frustrated because of how slow it is to pick up your site. But once it does, be assured your site will take off (at least mine is showing signs of such).

DON'T IGNORE BING especially if your niche has a lot of older people in the target audience base.

The problem with Bing is that there aren't enough information on how to optimize your sites for Bing. 3 of my sites get a few amount of traffic from Bing, one gets more and ranks in top 5 for most of all the Bing keywords it's targeting.

But the thing is, asides submitting them to Bing Webmasters Tool, I basically 'ignored' Bing.
I did absolutely nothing esle asides optimization for Google.

With that in mind, I'd say hitting it hard on Bing is mostly luck.

The other issue with Bing is low search volume.

What are you doing to target Bing rankings?
 
The same happens to me, but bing has already caused me problems by detecting an error on my sites for a tag that should be ignored.

Even so, it's good to explore all the ways to get traffic, bing is not usually the focus for practically anyone, so paying more attention to it can be good.

I am getting a lot of optimizable keyword suggestions from the Bing webmaster. Apart from that, I do almost nothing for Bing. I just optimized my articles for Google.

Same here. I added the site to bing webmaster, but didn't see any traction for 3 months so totally ignored it until today.

I got a lot of crawl errors and some trivial errors like 'meta tag missing' etc. But that didn't hinder my articles from getting indexed and ranked.

Previously did nothing. After checking Bing today started sprinkling the semantic keywords it suggested to me.

Exactly what I am saying. Bing has low Search volume but you have huge chances of ranking in the top 3 and grabbing the maximum chunk of that volume . Compared to google where getting your articles indexed is comparatively easy but ranking them is a pain in the ass.
 
Bing has more mature users, apparently their ads convert better than google ones, and there is less competition. Plus unless google that likes to optimizes your search result and not give you the results with exact keywords you typed in, bing will give you the results with exact keywords, so it might be easier to rank those.

I agree, bing is as important, but from my experience, i never had to focus on it, what i did for google ended up giving better results and rank on bing :D
 
Another reason: Maybe people using Bing Chat will also start driving more traffic to using their search.
I hadn't considered using Bing as a search engine, until their free AI Chat came along.

My advice & opinion is
Bing currently has the big surge of users since the AI wars that started a few months ago.
Whether that stays or not is not certain.
In fact, majority of us, myself included, probably don't even have the slightest idea how Bing even ranks, we haven't cared for the better of the two decades and that's just the truth
& yet Bing just ranks, i have so many kws at top 3& even more on page 1 when google isn't even there while all just catering to Google.

I personally suggest is until Google shows complete signs of failure, we shouldn't switch over, Bng should only be a nice suprise on the side.

Think of it this way, an TV ad during peak hrs vs non-peak hrs.
Google is the peak hrs while Bing is non-peak hrs.
Both will convert, but you will still always cater to peak hrs to attempt to get maximum results while having some budget for non-peak hrs for the stragglers who ain't around during peak right?? :)

With Bing, it's mostly luck. You have little control over the ranking.

Bing index is a must-to-have but Bing ranking is only a nice-to-have.

Trouble in creating a Bing Webmaster Tools account? I found it pretty easy following their site & getting the site verified, after creating a new account.
 
You got lucky.
There are lot of problems with Bing compared to google.
1 very low volume
2 more strict in terms of content quality
3 more reliance on content then on backlink in terms of ranking factors
But yes don't ignore.

Question: are you doing bing keyword research?
Question to everybody : any another way to do bing keyword research other than ahrefs?

Either way bings useless, unless you want to bot their rewards system for gift cards.

Even if you do game it Microsoft rewards team will block your ability to reap those deals at check out flagging your account.

(If we focus on their azure platform it's expensive as fk, I'd avoid, Google's no better but slightly better, but overall Google offer far better services over Microsoft, excluding game pass)


Bings AI is useless as useless can be, can not over emphasize how useless it is.

The only good thing bing has going for it are the image generators from dallE for free well to a point.

Overall bings garbage, but useful if your 1 person not gaming the system.
