Don't Give Up

The problem I see with those new to the scene trying to make money straight away is that they give up at the first sign of failure, give up because they actually have to do work to earn the money just as they do offline, or just give up because they feel they aren't making money.

Yet look at what you are doing. Are you devoting the hours to your goals? Are you actually doing something to reap the benefits? And are you spreading yourself too thin?

People are so about the 'free' craze that they download everything they see for free thinking it will make them money. No mates, it will not make you money [or at least the kind of money you want to make]. You have to actually do something about what you d/l. Whether it be learn from it, use it, resell it [in MRR/PLR cases], or toss it. But more than that, focus on one aspect of the game. Once you have that aspect mastered, move on to the next and so forth. Do not just download for the sake of downloading. I can go onto a forum and see a ton of new downloads and maybe download one thing because it will help in w/e project I am working on at the time. I figure something bigger and better will be out by the time I need to use the other software, and if not, I can find it when I need it again if it is truly good software.

That being said, I know myself that I spread myself too thin often too. I have been working on four projects totally unrelated now for the past two weeks and it has been driving me crazy. I finally just sat down on Sunday and focused on one project and showed more progress in those 3-4 hours than I did in the whole week prior. I know it will make me some decent passive income once I complete it, but it has been a matter of maintaining my focus. I've been trying to 'train' my girlfriend in the mix of it all so it's been a real ride! lol. But even when I think about tossing in the towel, I remember that my work does reap the benefits. When I work hard, I make more money; that's one thing I like about working online: the money fluctuates according to my work [heck sometimes there are those BH quick money methods, but I'm talking long term stuff that won't get you in 'real' trouble].

Don't go for a quick fix. Pick an area and run with it. Bum marketing is still a great hype because guess what, it actually works. Companies are built around making money with affiliate marketing and they use these very techniques. I know cause I worked as an independent contractor for one for a short period of time. It was very cool to see them setting up blogger blogs and squidoo lenses and submitting articles to directories and such. So I would definitely recommend it as a starting point and once you are seeing the fruits of your labor in that department, move on to something else to challenge you and make you a more rounded internet money maker.

Once you start making some change, it is always recommended to get partners or outsource the little work so you don't burn yourself out. You can make a lot of money on your own, but a lot more with a 'team.' =P

I'm guilty of downloading stuff because "oh, I'll need that one day when I do [insert whatever here]". I've got tons of stuff sitting on my hard drive, unread, because of the above mentioned reason. >_<

In case you're interested, shylesson, I actually got my girlfriend to do the passive income thing with me by tapping into one of her addictions - jewelry! She loves making jewelry so I suggested that I make a jewelry website so she can sell the pieces/designs she's made. We're pretty deep into it now and it's been a lot of fun really. I know it's not terribly black hat, but I plan on using some black hat techniques to push the site once it's live.

yeah..i agreed with you my friend

but, for most newbie, they want the quickest way to have money and keep searching something called 'magic pills to success' instead of take action.

I do not want to put all the blame to them too because nowadays people getting more creative in marketing and only the person who have intelligence can sort out which stuff is right and wrong.

p.s: honestly i learn in that hard way dude..

Yeh, I'm trying to find that 'niche'....my girlfriend is sort of a freegoing type: she doesn't anger easily, is 'anything goes' so long as it does not hurt her, and likes to work, play spades, and toke. But at least in her free spirit she does not mind the tedious work so I have her getting backlinks to my sites doing dir/article submissions while trying to get her to understand the potential she has in the online world (she likes to work and loves to make money so she has the potential...just not the grasp yet, lol).

But in dealing with her, I realized that it was easier to have her complete one task at a time. I think white hat is a great start for newbies honestly though because like if they get in trouble doing black hat, it may deter them from doing anything else, and while I'm sure we would all like less competition, I myself would really like to see those that have the drive to succeed....succeed.

But the main points of my post were yes, DO something, but also not to give up at first failure or not making as much money as you would like. Also to keep focused on one avenue before moving on to another. And if you find a download you can use right away, go for it. Otherwise, if it's worth it's weight in gold, it will be shared around for a long while as others will need it as well [and perhaps when you need to use it, it will be upgraded by then too].

I truly have a heart that wants to see people succeed and I felt motivated to write the post because I kept reading discouraging posts by newbies wanting to give up and even more discouraging posts by newbies wanting the 'instant rich' button lol. You may have the next million dollar pixel idea, but yo, keep the focus to make sure that you actually see it to fruition.

Great words of advice. I dove into IM and affiliate marketing about 6 months ago. Spent way too much time on what ifs and not enough time on trial and error. Pulled my head out of my ass, and finially started seeing (minimal) results to prove the concept. Still haven't reached the goal yet, but have made strides and am totally confident that I'll hit that home run soon. Especially after discovering BHW several weeks ago. The forum and it's contributing users are freakin gold. If there is a God, you all have a california king sized beds waiting for you in heaven's bath house.
