Donation for link

I recently found a website were I could donate a free to fill in amount. After this I got mentioned with a website URL in the thank you list of donators.
This seemed to me typcally a subject for BlackHatWorld. Is there more of you using this linkbuilding method and is there a good list of hight authority websites were you can do this?

You can consider edu link building or scholarship link building, I'm not sure weather it's working currently or not but you can give it a try once.
