Hi guys, I know that in Korea most people don't use Google, they use Naver. My question is, has anyone employed any successful SEO tactics on this search engine or heard of it being done?

Another somewhat common site used is Daum. Google is growing but still <5% so I have heard.

Most likely they function on the same principles as the English language engines. Build your backlinks on Korean language sites and domains would be the only suggestion I would have. Perhaps seek Korean webhosting companies. i really couldn't think of any other differences that would make your site stand out as any more Korean, lol. I wouldn't expect there to be near the competition, so you should have alot easier roads ahead of you.

I've suspected for a long time now that these smaller emerging markets are gold mines for those who get into the now. I really wish I was fluent in some Asian languages, lol.

I have heard Naver works as a "pay for rank" system, as opposed to ranking based on content. But I am not sure.

I need to know this also. I'm living in Korea and never promote any Korean websites.

Besides, don't you think that among more than 49 million South Koreans there is not a group of Internet Marketeers like us?

I don't believe it's that easy to enter and dominate those search engines, even if you can get through the language barrier.

    ranking on naver? forget it.
they heavily promote paid advertisers first (analogous to adwords) and then their own answer site and blog sites.
korean search engines vastly different the ones we know.
