Domains that dropped 2+ years ago

Has anyone ever dealt with domains that were dropped several years ago?. I found domains when poking around in my niche that were deleted 2 - 5 years ago and they still have a lot of great backlinks going to them strangely. I would have thought the linking domains would have deleted the links but according to majestic, there still there. Is there anything i should be aware of when buying names that old?. Im hoping i can just register it, build a site out of it, throw link juice keeper on it and the links that are still pointing to it will still work when the site gets indexed. Any experience of domains this old?

I've picked up names that dropped years ago. They still had juice on them, and still had traffic coming into them too. One name I developed was from closer to 5yrs ago...It took a while to start seeing decent SE traffic from it, but it was getting referral traffic right off the bat. I'm not sure I would go trying to use the content from way back then, but fresh content on there should still be good for some juice and traffic.

If the backlinks remain, it's still worth it. Just check they haven't totally burned themselves in the past.
