DomainName.com vs Domain-Name.com

Hi guy,

I got a question. I knew a lot DomainName.com were taken, but not domain-name.com.

if I can get highly searched domain by adding a dash into the domain, will it improve my SEO?

My first preference would be domain.com if it's not available then preferably hyphen works i have seen a lot ranking high in searches

Some folks frown upon the - in between keywords. Others use it anyway.

I have many many of them. they do not work well like domainwithoutdashes.com

I would always prefer to buy Domain.com. It's damn easy to rank them.

There are a ton of threads on this topic so you get additional opinions there as well! In terms of ranking makes no difference but for branding no hyphen is better.

If you can't find a .com .net's seem to rank just as good. .Org's too. I think you should try to find the domian.com domain.net or domain.org for a good website and if you have to and can find nothing else .info.

Best of luck I wouldn't recommend dashes but Matt Cutts says that the keyword-domain.com can rank for word 1 the first word word 2 the second word and the phrase altogether. So that is what is said about that. Good luck again!

The first would be better, the second only as a backup in case the first is take. Won't hurt you too bad.

One of my main sites has a dash (-) in the middle.
If I'd do it all over again, I'd buy the domain without it.
Don't know what I was thinking :\

I don't like hyphens in domain names, I prefer either a prefix or a suffix if the EMD is not available.

always go for DomainName.com if that's available, if not then Domain-Name.com or alternatives like DomainName.net/DomainNet.org
But first choice should be DomainName.com always.
