Has anyone else had problems transfering a domain from one host to another?
I have a client who bought a domain name from Webworks, am trying to transfer the name to Hostgator, paid my $15, get an authorisation code, they email Webworks who click it...then nothing....then i get a message from Hostgator saying authorisation code invalid and to get another one, but webworks tell me the auth code is fine and not locked...going around in circles for 4 weeks now and my client is getting impatient...any ideas who i need to contact, live help at Hostgator is useless...

Never had your problem but then never used the Domain registrars that you have been dealing with. Good luck sorting out your problem

Don't transfer the domain to hostgator just open a free account for your client at namecheap or godaddy. You will have control to transfer whenever you want and you won't have to wait for admin to do it for you.

I registered a domain once with my hosting company and then when I requested to transfer the domain away they held me up for like $85.00 in order to transfer the domain.

Or you could set up a reseller account and then you can assign your clients a dashboard to manage their domains.

I use net earth one they have pretty good prices.

Don't transfer to GoDaddy.

Call tech support at both ends of the transaction, and if they won't help you, ask for the manager or a technical person. Call them every day, they'll eventually sort it out.

I recommend resell.biz for doing resell stuff, their prices are fantastic and their tech support is prompt and helpful when you need it.
