domain searchers collect your ideas?

hi,

i had a paranoid idea the other day: what if new domain name check providers and registers, when you submit your ideas into their search field, they collect them in lists and if you don't register those names, they read these lists (or give it to their frends/partners) and register the best ones for themselves, so when you finally decide 2 days later to buy it, then it won't be available anymore... (theoretically they could even implemet algos to check your ideas keyword search popularity on the fly and collect only those that seem really good)
do you think this is likely happening?

Yes.

Rather than letting you buy the domain and making recurring fees from you...

.. they register the domain themselves.

Do you know how many domains are bought and then never get developed? Millions.
I bet there isn't a member of this forum who doesn't own a few - and some will own thousands.

And then think about all the domain name checks done every day.

If a registrar did what you are suggesting, they would be out of business very quickly
