So does anyone know if there is a catch to this? Do they use your research to automatically register awesome domains before you can? Or what's the deal here...

Who knows. They wouldn't tell you if they were. I wouldn't put it past any company selling a product or service that can store your research on their servers, that's why I write my own tools.

Domain Samurai doesn't do anything special. The keyword research part is already in the free version of Market Samurai and you can use any simple web macro or web bot software to throw a bunch of domains at some whois checking site to see if it's available. Hell, GoDaddy lets you check domains 500 at a time if you don't have a huge list, jsut use that.

Iit does prefix/append words to keywords and add the domain extensions which is helpful.

@BlackHatSoda - You're right - there's nothing that Domain Samurai does that you can't do manually...

But for most people who can't write macros (and have enough trouble with find-and-replace), going from keyword research, to checking domain availability, to filtering results and registering can take a few hours.

Domain Samurai was released for those people.

And so that the rest of us didn't need to waste time writing macros, or trying to get around WHOIS bans if you're automating checking.

I wonder why the domain module isn't included into Market Samurai. Maybe a standalone free application is some motivation to install Adobe AIR and later Market Samurai.

It's pretty obvious that the Market Samurai folks will be banking off any aged domain purchases you make through Domainface.com.

There's nothing wrong with that, it's still a neat little tool and they have bills to pay too. ;)

So many conspiracy theories...

I thought I was on a Blackhat forum, not a Tinfoil Hat forum ;)

I wonder why the domain module isn't included into Market Samurai.

It's part of a different, distinct workflow to Market Samurai.

Already users have raised a lot of good reasons reasons why we should add the Domains module into Market Samurai too.

Maybe we'll do this - but that's something that is not on our development schedule yet.

So why release in Adobe AIR? Because we had the code libraries to do it faster and easier than any other platform.

Actually - Not a penny.

I think DomainFace was able to arrange affiliate commissions for one of the registrars, but most marketplaces don't offer commissions - and DomainFace is a separate service that Domain Samurai is just plugging into.

.

Well its simple...by giving away such NEAT piece of software, they can get free advertising and further branding for their main software, Market Samurai.. :)
