Domain Question

I own CitynameSEO.co.uk and one of my competitors owns SEOCityname.com. They aren't registered under that name and are a limited company with a totally different name. Now my question is they won't be able to get my domain off me will they? Surely it is impossible to trademark a City name and the term SEO.

Any thoughts?

i don't think they will be able to get the domain from you, but lets wait some domain gurus to hear what they say..

i dont think they can get it from you. You cant get the copyright on the city name... Unless you copy their design I dont think you will have problem

Cityseo and seocity are two entirely different things so I can't see any problem. I would have my site built and fuctioning so you can prove you own the business and are not just a domain squatter.

It's not impossible to trademark this term but would cost a fair chunk of time and money in the uk.

Thanks for all your replies will get on with building the site over the next few days, the other providers are pretty cookie cutter so should be able to make an impact quite quickly.

Yeah, exactly there will not be any problem. you can see many practical examples regarding this related domain names and there were no issues. Start building your site without any hassles.

Don't worry mate, they cannot do anything with that. The names are not same they are different.
