I'm usually buying domains on GoDaddy, but i recently noticed that you have to pay extra to get any privacy at all.

Do you know of any domain providers that offers privacy to (who is - softwares) for free? [Standard domain price, free privacy]

Is there anything like it?

You may have some luck with EIG. They used to register their domains through Tucows, and even though EIG charges for domain privacy, you could still login to Tucows (http://manage.opensrs.net/) and enable it for free. The account on Tucows automatically gets created with your hosting accounts login information after you register a domain.

They were still using Tucows the last time I registered a domain through them. Although I think they have since switched to another domain registrar. But I remember contacting them shortly after hearing about the switch and they said all I have to do is purchase a domain credit and then submit a ticket asking for the domain to be registered through Tucows instead of the new registrar they are using.

There are lots of other features that other companies would usually charge for too. Like custom nameservers, etc.

New domains registered through NameCheap.com have free Whois protection for 1 year.

Thank you guys!

Seocrab, is there any downsides of using NameCheap.com compared to GoDaddy?

namesilo.com + whois.com > cheap & free private whois for lifetime

Internetbs.net and Namecheap.com, both have free whois privacy.

Although Namecheap looks to only have it free for the first year.

If you're going to use domain privacy, the price is going to be around the same regardless of the company you use.

In my case, I don't use domain privacy. So I just signup with a company like Register.com or NetworkSolutions (yes they are the same company) and utilize their .50 cent domain promotion (you can find it by Googling "cheap domain names" and checking the sponsored ads). But then again, their domain privacy is like $10 per year. I end up signing up without domain privacy and then take advantage of a domain transfer promotion to another company like Godaddy the following year (since the second year of Network Solutions can get expensive).

name.com

Use promocode: privacyplease
and the privacy is free

you could always use the .99 domain coupon for GoDaddy, and just pay the 7.99 for privacy. Thats what i do and it comes out to about $9.15 after ICANN fees, etc.

+1 for namecheap. I can slowly tell godaddy is even raising the prices for the domains (without coupons of course)

I bought my domain on namecheap, thanks a lot for the help :)
