Hi,

I have a high end vps and I would like to know how many domain I should host on this 1 IP without getting punished.

This isn't for a blog network necessarily, but I would just like to avoid fees of opening up a shared hosting account for every 3 domains.

I have ~ 35 domains I'd like to host in the same niche.

If I am interested in interlinking them - is it okay to have 3 domains per shared hosting?

Thanks

If you host all of them on shared hosting, it would still be understandable as there are usually hundreds if not thousands of sites sharing resources. But a vps that you use exclusively, and a single ip that only you use for your 30+ domains is a risky thing.

cool - thanks.

so 35 on 1 shared hosting account is not a big deal.

but if i want to interlink them, do you think 3 domains per shared hosting is fine?

Actually in my niche (web design & themes) top 10 have links from hundreds of websites hosted on the same host (99% of time is vps)
I would suggest using cloudflare to change the ips of your websites

so i can host everything on one hosting acccount, and use cloudflare to mask the IP and interlink them?

has anyone successfully done this?

If you are going to interlink them, hosting each domain on a dedicated IP would be the best way of going about this. Arvixe (arvixe.com), which is the best web host you can ever use (I'll switch to them after my current hosting plan at bluehost expires), lets you host each of your domains on separate dedicated IP addresses per month for just $2 per month.

Monthly cost for hosting 35 domains on a separate dedicated IP: $70 + hosting fee
Monthly cost for hosting 3 domains per IP: $24 + hosting fee
