Domain Parking - do you think it's worth it?

I don't personally have any experience, but if you are experienced with keyword research and finding finding brand-able names etc. I could see it being very profitable. You can get domains at $0.99 for the first year... if you buy 100 good domains and sell only 10% within a year at only $20 each you would double your investment. Likely you could get more than $20 if you find some really good domains available... just look into the type of domains that would have a demographic which would actually buy domains, because I personally will take a non-exact match domain before paying $100 for just a domain especially in the current SEO climate.

You won't make much from it, as the parking company takes a hefty cut, but if you're really interested in trying it, give it a shot and see how it goes. Just make sure you choose a decent parking company - there are some real shifty fly by night operations out there.

If the domain gets any real type-in traffic you can make a ton of money by parking it. However, the vast, vast majority of domains don't receive type-in traffic.
Parking is only good for type-in domains where people actually type your domain name or web address directly into the address bar. You need a really good keyword domain name to receive any kind of type-in traffic.
And by parking your domain names with the usual companies, sedo, domainsponsor, parked, etc. your domain name will get de-indexed and it will make it harder to get any significant search engine traffic to the domain name in the future.
Parking should be your last resort.

Respectfully disagree that you need a good keyword domain. That is a plus but not required.
And the name will not necessarily get de-indexed because it is parked.

In my experience it doesn't matter if a parked domain gets indexed or not. I get lazy sometimes and it take me a month maybe to flesh out a site.
Once I do that, and the site is of the quality I want, it gets indexed the same as one I threw up the same day.
I registered a site with .com and forgot all about it till it came up for renewal. Yeh... I was a dumbass! Anywho, I did flesh it out and guess what? It's one of my better performers.....

If you are strictly after parking revenue then I'll second the opinion of what MoMentuM has said. Thats a different story if you are after finding end users to sell for a profit. I have earned the most parking revenue with type-in domains in the past.
