Iv'e stumbled across a domain name that is available (long tailed) and that name gets 20,000 exact searches per month. Competition looks very tough for me at the moment so im considering on grabbing the domain anyway and parking it. Is 20,000 exact searches 'enough to park' or should i be looking higher even to recieve say $5 a day? What sort of money could i expect from parking this name at sedo or any other recommended parking site? As always +rep will be given! Thanks in advance.
Yes that volume of exact searches would make it "worth" parking (I'm assuming of course that the method used to determine the search volume is accurate - not asking you to divulge said method, just saying that is a key assumption). As to how much you could make per day, that really is so variable - largely dependent on a) the niche; b) the parking provider's proficiency in monetising said niche; and c) the level of SEO/customisation that the company lets you make to the site. (and those are factors in that order of impact I would say). peace - gregs. edit: oh, and again assuming the search volume is accurate, I would grab it, park it and see how it does, then you can always either build it out later or flip it once you see what the revenue is like. edit the second: the parking company really makes a difference; there are some pretty skeezy operators in that namespace, though there are also some very solid ones that deliver for both sides of the partnership; additionally there are some who cater or focus more on certain areas.
Imo it depends on the keyword, if it's very valuable keyword then it's worthy. But if you want to register it and park it on e.g. Sedo parking then I'm not sure... 20k Google search volume keyword may not generate a lot of traffic since most of this 20k are typeins in Google and not address bar. You would need 5k clicks on links and this means that if typein/click ratio is for example 10% you would need 50k typeins per month. So it would be much better idea to make a website, optimize and start selling something... then $5 could be possible. Just my humble opinion.
Hello, 20,000 searches per month will do no good to your parking website, And it doesn't on a whole depend on how much searches it get exactly how cool the niche if it is a saturated niche then i would recommend not to choose it.
Long tail names don't generally have much type-ins. So imo you can give it a try, but i don't think so you can get $5 a day. Again it depends on a lot of factors too. There are many parking companies. I earned nothing much with sedo. Parked.com still gives better results. I haven't tried others.
