Domain Names in other countries..

Hey dudes and dudettes!!! :cool:

If I'm to target India, am I best to get the .asia address??

Or would it not even really matter in terms of the search algorithms for India??

No-one knows how international domains work?? :confused:
 
It is best to go with .in domain ..
But when the target market becomes big .. The domain extension might become an issue ..
 
I second that. Get a .in domain if you want to target India. I have a few .in domains parked that are in English(official language) and I get plenty of type in traffic primarily from India but all over the region.

Yeah if you're looking for an IDN then go for a .in. However I would think that you'd have more success with a .com it'll give you more credibility. As happywarrior said no one really knows how these IDNs work and how they are ranked. I personally haven't had much success with IDNs, but then again that was just .co and no one really had much success.
 
If you are targeting india, you can choose .in or .co.in, Also you can set geographic location in webmaster tool for generic extensions. I think country level domain will be the better option.
