if the name games com is already taken, does the name g-a-m-e-s com still hold any seo value as exact domain match?

no, it is far away of holding any good seo value with that many hyphens... one hyphen in some cases is fine, but more than that is no good to use..

it will be better to try some other tld
if all tld's are taken then you must use one hyphen in domain

EMD's only work for exact match. No one searches for g-a-m.... they search for games. Make sense?

I realize that has already been said....

So....

I will add, don't waste your time focusing on EMD's. It's a GIANT waste of time unless the perfect one is right there in front of you for the low price of the market average - 10 dollars.

one last question please, is it better to use for example strategygames or strategy-games? Does just hypen really matter?

it is always better not to use hyphens in the domain.. in subdirectory/page name it is good, but not in the domain itself

it also devalues the domain if you wish to sell it anytime later..

Haha... again... don't stress the EMD! You'd be better off calling it allstrategygames, or strategygameszone, or whatever. I found this tool from another BHW member... I've found it very, very useful.

Use the one you think looks best (I'm serious) you want a brand-able tld that people will see in search results and have no issues clicking. I personally think strategy-games.com looks more professional than stategygames.com, but that's me. Your site title will to a much larger extent determine what you rank for. That's where you title "strategy games" no hyphen or anything, and that's then keyword you optimize for and try to rank.

if your keyword is strategy games
then strategygames is known as EMD
as stated earlier
if EMD is not available then you go for EM-D
if strategygames is available then go for it
