Domain name too general?

I have a site named along the lines of reviewguy Dott etc (that isn't my site). Is this too general, should I be doing EMD's instead? What I have been doing on this site is just reviewing certain CB products and trying to get people to buy them. The tough thing about this is that I dont really know what keywords to try to go for because I am reviewing several different products. Suggestions?

Emd's are just easier to rank. And you might be wiser in general to specialise - focus on one area that you know more about and do some keyword research (or pay for it) and then focus all your efforts on ranking for those keywords.

You really don't need an EMD to be a success. However you have to work on BRANDING the domain you have.

Advertise your site. Think of the Coca Cola advertising model. Advertiser everywhere and anywhere you can.

Its always difficult to get keywords that are high paying but you have to use some paid service for that.

take a few good keywords that you think you can rank well based on your budget

Since I already do own the domain name for a review site would it make a major difference in SEO for me to have exact match vs having site.com/keyword ?

Also, I have been researching a lot on keyword research and dont have any money to spend on keyword research software. I am using google adwords to see how much traffic a specific keyword gets but I dont know how to check for competition correctly. Google adwords will just say "low", "high", ect. Is there a way I can get a better idea of what I am up against?
