Hello,

My friends I am starting a business about VOIP. Well i wanted your input on the catchyness, seo, etc of this domain i am thinking of getting.

I know posting my domain here is like the worst thing I can do but i need suggestions and well the name wont appeal to everyone so i think im safe.

Its really catchy and all that. Its for a business for VOIP so having the phrase VOIP in it is good for seo. What are your takes on this?

It's okay. Not great, but okay. Fairly short, which is nice.

I'd register it now if I were you if you're at all interested in it. Available names go fast if you know what I mean.

ya no worries i have it. just wanting a little more suggestions as to how it is. I know its brandable for a business and OK for seo, any other things?

actually, two different registrars and one independent whois service say it's available for registration right now....just saying....

Voipsting.com, voiprx.com, voiptooth.com, voiptrack.com and voipcheif.com are all for sale in the GD aftermarket for $5. All are easy to remember and contain your KW. Plus they're aged.

i dont know thats why i asked here. But think about what people will think when they come to my site and its called voiptooth. but uVOIPit sounds interesting and catchy, at least i think so.

any other inputs? where is the best place to get expired domains, i saw go daddy, anywhere else?

some people sell on namepros.com too, but it's kind of like the DP of the domainers' world

I dunno, voipsting.com and voiprx.com in the GD $5 section both seem pretty good. They also have voipbits.com in that bucket, though it may not be there very long lol. As far as voiptooth.com, I would think of bluetooth + VoIP. But that's just me, your mileage may vary.

You gonna reg uvoipit.com or not? It's still available for anyone who wants to register it....

guys voipbits has a domain already registered and on the first page as voipbits.co.uk. so thats not a great choice

Yeah like I said, it's in the GD aftermarket for $5 right now. For now anyway - I might be buying some VoIP names from the closeout bin @ GD tonight....

I have no clue why you think it's not a great choice just because an alternate TLD is on the first page. But that's your call chief...

I might scoop up a few of those as well. So many domain owners have no idea what they have, and they just throw them in there for 5 bucks.

I picked up a 7 year old, PR4, 2 word, six letter domain last week for $40. You have to dig around a bit but there are great deals there.

@grass182 - great advice, and it's one thing that makes VoIP names tricky - most people pronounce it:

vee-oh-eye-pee

so there's 4 syllables right there.

I have a few names in this niche and have worked with VoIP tech a fair amount, so it's of special interest to me. I took a five-letter .com I have and just made up an acronym for branding related to VoIP. The name and the spelled-out acronym are both only 3 syllables and the name is only 5 letters, so it's got some value....

@SBP7878 - the $5 names on GD are actually expiring names that did not sell at higher prices on GD. If you place a watch on an expired name that is more than $5, and it doesn't sell, then you can see it in the $5 bucket for a few days. If it doesn't sell @ that price, I think it drops back into the pool of available names to register. Either way, the GD closeouts can have some real deals in there. No wait, nevermind, they're all crap, stay out of my end of the pool (just kidding).

And you're right, a lot of people are way out of touch with what their names are worth. Separating the wheat from the chaff is the trick.

Excuse the bit of fun; it can only get better from now on; at least we're all thinking about it, really.

How about asking "rymegenerator" about some ideas?

Who will be your customers, endusers or biz, or both of them?

Your idea was not bad, but just would have looked better with dashes "u-voip-it com"
Me personally I like dashes, whatsthe point if a human can't read it any more...

I would create a name exactly the same as the most popular search term that the people wold use for this type of business. I have found it's very important.
