I'm at an impasse for my next venture. I'm picking a domain name, but I'm not sure which route to take. Should I choose a keyword-rich domain, or a domain name thats memorable, yet isn't inherently valuable in terms of SEO? I plan to have a social media presence on both FB and Twitter. Possibly Instagram. So the name should *sound* good, yet at the same time, how important is domain SEO vs content SEO?

What do you guys think?

Exact match domain gives you a small benefit, but it is a way smaller, than it was not so long ago. Now what really matters is content. So I think you should better pick a good, memorable name rather than "my-keyword-oh-my-keyword.com"

it depends what sort of site you are trying to build. if its a niche site, then exact match is better, if its long term authority site and you want to build a brand then name/memorability is better.

Also you should consider expired domain with some existing metrics.

it's a long term process. so keep research and you will find the best one

I would go with a short, memorable and brandable domain.

short and relevant to niche is better also make sure to make a brand name instead of exact match for authority and long term biz site ;)
