Domain Name Help.

Buying a domain name for my CB project but the one i want is taken, its best if i give an example.. Say i want to buy the domain name "www.FreeShops.com" but its taken so instead of looking for a new domain altogether i was thinking about changing the "shops" to shopz. So instead of "www.FreeShops.com" it will be "www.FreeShopz.com".

Is this something people would do, will it affect the site in any way or maybe i should just find another name.

Help would be appreciated.

Doesn't really affect it - just makes it look a bit retarded. And this is coming from a person who runs z-end site.

Better to look out for something more unique.

hi kind try to understand some other domain name. Because both of the same name. so it will get confuse

The only thing confusing me right now is you're comment as i don't understand a single word of it.

@Oukast Ill take a look around see if i can find something else that i like the sound of

One trouble i see with it is when you tell someone to go visit freeshopz.com every time you will have to explain its spelt with a ''z'' and if they forget you told them that they will end up going to freeshops.com

I agree with the above post. You are better off finding a new unique name then a similar name.

The confusion will not only cause you loss of traffic but also emails. I've seen some cases where the confusion is so bad the Domain loses 20% of its intended traffic to the normal term(s).

Plus in some cases you may be infringing on a TM (Trademark) by doing the slight variation.

Just isn't worth it.

1st if the domain which is already taken is established then all ur traffic will be diverted to there website second 'z' in the end really looks odd unless u know what u r doing , i will suggest that if the domain name which u want is already taken and there is no site on that domain then get the owner email from whois and email him that u wanna buy his domain name , offer a good $$ most of the time they will agree to sell just be good in negotiation

I think it would be a bad idea, to change the letters like shopz instead of shops. It sound very un-professional.
Find another name. Period.
